Hi Ladies
OK for about a month now I have been nauseous and feel like throwing up. I just had knee surgery so I am on pain meds but don't take them a lot. Could this be part of the transition? Also have headaches. All kinds of gastric disturbances. Just feel horrible. Anybody else feel like this?

It is so funny to read this cuz i was going to write something about this. When I first started all this menopause stuff last July. I was always so nauseated and such a bad headache in the morning. Now for the past 5 days it has returned. Very nauseated and have a bad headache on the left side of my head. I am on HRT. I, being a big dummy, just thought If you get on something all will dissappear. Well guess what it is not. Along with the headaches and nausea, I am doing alot of crying and I am soooooooo anxious. I think I am about to loose my mind even as I sit here....So no you are not alone, I think it has something to do our bodies trying to make this change...
Hang in there...
Hope you knee gets better also.

Hey there,
I remember thinking way back when I didn't know why I had all these symptoms, that I felt just like I did in the beginning of my pregnancies. I would wake up feeling nauseous, very headachy and just plain tired. That went on for a very, very long time. Now, it comes and goes but it's not like it was 10 years ago. Tummy troubles as well.
It sometimes feels like I"m on a rollercoaster ride....up and down. Some days are just fine, others are terrible but the bad days are much more emotional.
I drink a few LARGE cups of green tea that is infused with lemongrass and a few other herbs. That really seems to calm the nausea. And, eating light helps too.
Hope you feel better soon.

Welcome to the nausea club! Me too! How far into peri /post are all of you? I am 51 and have been having all these rotten symptoms, including the nausea for about 17 months. During this time, I've had 5 slight periods (2-3 days). How about all of you? During the past month or so, I've had a few good days, but today isn't one of them! Hang in there, I'm with you.

Hi, I am new to the site and just posted for the first time yesterday regarding the same issues. I have been on and off nauseous for about 3-4 years now and its really awful. Some days are OK and others like today for instance not nice at all.
Mints help me along with ginger bears. Tried ginger ale, tea etc., don't seem to work for me.
The feeling I get comes from my upper stomach area, lower no problems, and I need to burp quite a bit too. This is my main symptom, but I do have quite a lot of the other 34 too.
I think I could put up with anything else if only this would go away. It just is horrible and restricts a lot of your lifestyle.
I hope you get relief from something. If you do, let me know what you tried.

Hi Sishaircut - No, I'm not on any HRT. I tried it for 1 month back in Sept. and my symptoms started to lessen - nausea included. But, it was weird, I took it for 2 weeks and didn't notice anything. Then, the 2nd 2 weeks that I took it, the symptoms didn't gradually lessen - it was jerky, kind of - up and down - a good day, a day and a half of bad, then 2 good half days, etc. How long have you been on it? How far into peri/meno were you when you started?
Angiebec - Are you on any meds? How far into peri/meno are you?
Manyboys - 10 years you've been dealing with this?? HOW DISCOURAGING! How old are you and how long have you been post?
We are a sorry bunch! When I've had my recent few good days, I get very hopeful and optimistic. Then, along comes a bad day, like today, and I start thinking like this will never end and I'll feel lousy for the rest of my life. This is such a trying time!

Hey there,
I would say 10 years on and off yes, but it was much worse than it is not about 10 years ago....so that would be my early 40's. I would wake up feeling nauseous almost every morning. It would lessen as the day went on most times, but it was pretty bad.
Now, it's once in a while. So, I do think in my case it was peri. I didn't suffer with burping or gas at that time, just a low grade nausea with headache. My hormones were probably really fluctuating at the time. I had my youngest son when I was 37 so I had the peri symptoms and post partum all at the same time. It's no wonder I was wonky.
But, yeah I've been feeling the effects of pre/peri and meno for A LONG TIME.
I wouldn't consider myself post yet. I think I have some time to go for that.
Really though.....I think ignorance is a bit bliss. At the time I didn't know it was hormonal. I just kept on going and pushed through it. I guess I didn't have the time to sit down and think too much about it......;-)
Cathy
p.s. When I think back, those were the good old days! I may have felt like crap some days but at least I had some zip, get up and go. Now I get up and sit right back down!

Hi again Cathy - Wow, you deserve a break! How many boys do you have? Do you still have periods? You're right about getting right up just to sit right back down! Back in the day, I would be mad if I had to sit home on a weekend night, now, I'm glad to sit home and watch a movie with hubby. Tonight, I have a little get-together to go to for a birthday celebration. Just a few lady friends getting together for pizza, cake and probably wine. My friend said to come at 6:30 - rats, I was hoping to start earlier than that. I like to be in bed by 9:30, especially on week nights.

Hi Sciencelady,
I really don't think I've had it too badly. It's been busy, but I am lucky enough to be able to stay home with the kids. That won't last long though, my youngest is heading to high school next year. I have three boys; 19, 16 and 13 year old. Lots of hockey and soccer!
I'm definitely with you when it comes to bed time. And, I'd be saying the same thing as you about going out and on a weeknight!!!??? I cannot get my mind around going anywhere at night during the week and lately I've felt the same way about Friday and Saturday nights! I used to live for the weekend, but now it's all I can do to stay awake long enough to listen for my son to come in at the end of the night (or beginning of the next day.....;-)
Have fun tonight and don't stay out too late. You'll pay for it tomorrow.....;-O

This to me is one of the more unpleasant aspects of peri. I feel like I am pregnant again.

Hi Ang,
Yeah, that is where my stomach hurts too; upper area right under my breast bone. Very uncomfortable. I have also had lower stomach problems but I get diarrhea from that. I burp a lot more than I ever have in my whole life.
