Hi,
I hope someone can relate and help me. I am 51 and I had my ovaries removed seven weeks ago. Last week my doctor started me on the Climara patch, prometrium, & estrace cream. My menopause symptoms (hot flashes, insomnia, and mood swings) improved immediately. The second day after I started taking the meds, I noticed a frequent need to urinate. I don't feel any pain like when I've had a UTI. At night it is hard to fall asleep because I feel like I need to pee, but my bladder is empty. I just wondered if anyone else had this problem after ovary removal or starting hormones?

Interesting. The estrogen should help that urge, especially the Estrace. Are you inserting it vaginally or just applying it to the outer peri area? My doc just the other day prescribed this and said it should help with the urge incontinence. When I would get the urge to go I had to pee RIGHT THEN and could barely make it to the bathroom, and sometimes didn't make it
The only other thing I can think of is that I was just re-reading Dr. Vliet's book on hormones last night and she said some women have a sensitivity to propylene glycol, which is in some of the vag creams. She said it can be irritating and cause a burning sensation. So I wonder if it could also be the reason why you feel you have to urinate but can't.
