Hi, I am new to the site and it looks by reading other posts that this is what I have been suffering from.
I am 45 years old and have had no problems with periods since I started when I was 11. The last 3-4 years I have had various symptoms continually within this time. Being, Feeling hot, mainly in my fact, while the rest of my body is cold, sweats in the night, although they have stopped now, aching limbs, fuzzy head, light headedness, the feeling of being on a boat, Nausea which has been quite bad, tingling fingers, palpitations, anxiety which made me not whant to leave the house, internal shaking, vision problems etc, the list can go on and on.
It is a relief to look on here to see other people having the same problems. My periods last year were erratic last year, but now have gone back to a 26-28 day cycle, so that is what put me off thinking it was peri. Also from having low to normal blood pressure it is now on a high level, but not enough to cause me to have medication.
Is there anything that anyone could recommend for me to sort of alleviate some symptoms especially the nausea part of it. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. I am so pleased I found this site. Many thanks

Welcome to Power Surge

!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are doing the right thing by reading the posts and articles on this sight. There is so much priceless information. I found more information and received more help from the ladies at this sight than I did from my doctors.
Have you sought medical advice? Did you have your thyroid tested? It's always good to first see your doctor to rule out other possibilities

.
One thing that I've found since being pushed onto this peri ride, lol

, is that it's a matter of trial and error in finding what will works for you, and there is no one size fit all, lol

, when it comes to perimenopause/menopause. Some ladies have found relief by using over the counter remedies, while others needed prescription meds. I do not have any suggestions for alleviating your nausea, but maybe someone will post soon with some suggestions.
Keep reading and keep posting

Thanks My Faith for responding. Yes me and my doctor and the receptionist are on first named terms. I have had bloods done, menopause test came back OK. Had a bacteria on my stomach which I took anit biotics for and they eradicated it, but because the nausea comes with the other syptoms now, I presume it must be the peri. Thanks again.

Hi, I too want to welcome you here. Yup sounds like you are very peri. The symtoms wax and wane. You may also get other symptoms as well - along your journey. Don't panic though, just come here and get
some validation! It really helps; we have all benefitted from this wonderful site.
I wish you well.

Welcome!
Regarding your nausea, I would talk with your doctor. I have changed my diet, increased exercise and this has helped tremendously with my nausea. As far as your other symptoms of peri, make a list (I'm big on lists...especially because I tend to forget...meno fog

) of your symptoms and also discuss them with your doctor.
As MyFaith stated, this is a wonderful site for information. Every symptom you have described, many of us have had. It helps to know that you are not alone.
Take care, dear!

Thank you for your replies. Doctor has given me medication for nausea before, but it didn't work. Some days I feel OK and it isn't quite bad but others its quite bad. It just seems to be one thing after another, when one sypmtom dies down another appears along with another to keep the other one company. But is sounds as though there is light at the end of the tunnel, so has made me feel a lot happier now after being on here. Thank you again for your support. I no doubt will speak again soon. Love Ax

Hi Angiebec - It sure sounds like you are in peri to me. I sure can relate to the nausea! That has been my worst symptom. I spent about 9 months going to a gastroenterologist and having every test in the world, which mostly came back negative. At first they said it was GERD. I had a Bravo pH test which showed a pretty high amount of reflux (even though I didn't feel any heartburn). I started taking Zegerid, a PPI (anti-reflux med), which helped my nausea a tiny bit - maybe 20%. I still felt rotten, though. Then they thought it might be my gall bladder, so I had surgery for that. Meanwhile, my periods were only coming every 3-4 months and I was having night sweats. Nobody put 2 and 2 together, including me, that I might be in peri. After a year of feeling rotten, I went to my OB/GYN. She tested my FSH, it came out to be 71 which is pretty high. I guess anything over 30 is meno?? All of a sudden, she and I both realized that my symptoms were probably due to peri. She offered me Celexa (an anti-depressant). I didn't want to take it because I didn't feel depressed, but she said that AD can relieve meno symptoms sometimes so I decided to try it. I took one pill and suffered from about every side effect listed. No more AD for me! I called her back and asked to try HRT. I took PremPhase for 1 month and started to feel better, but then I got scared of those side effects down the road, plus I didn't want to deal with all of this rottenness down the road when I had to come off the HRT. So, at least that confirmed what was wrong with me. I decided to **** it up and go the natural route for as long as I could. Well, I am now 51 and it is 16 months since I started all of this and I THINK I'm beginning to come through to the bright side. In the last year, I've had 3 periods, nothing since Sept. 08. During the last month, I've had a few whole and several partial days where I have felt quite good. The nausea has gone, no night sweats, a decent nights sleep, my appetite returned with a vengence. It all returns the very next day, but it's a start that I haven't had in 16 months. I never found anything that helped the nausea. I tried lots of things, too. Some women say that ginger capsules or lemon juice in warm water help. I suppose it can't hurt for you to try. I'm not sure what route you want to go, but the HRT helped, too. I am nowhere out of the woods yet, but now I have hope that my life will get back to normal. I just wish it would happen faster. The PowerSurge crew is a wonderful support system. We WILL fell better someday! Oh, and my crutches have been Tylenol PM to help with sleep problems and a glass of wine about 4:30 in the afternoon on many days! Feel free to ask all the questions you can think of!

angiebec, my recommendations to you are progesterone supplementation now, and estradiol supplementation if you start experiencing debilitating hot flashes. Lots of details left out here, they are in other threads. :-)

Thank you again for your replies and pleased to hear that there are some good days ahead. I will definately try the progesterone OTC and if the night sweats start up again with will give that other stuff a go too. YOur support is greatly appreciated. Ax

I too suffer with nausea. It is not daily--but often. Most of my peri symptoms are gastro. related! There are days when i have absolutely no problems---and of course there are weeks when all i feel is 'not right' i have definetly noticed that it is worse during pms ( still have pretty regular periods) lemon juice in hot water sometimes helps. i also do tylenol pm or benadryl to sleep---it just helps to not have my mind racing all night and feel the nausea! good luck, just know that you have alot of company in your misery!
