I was just wondering if anyone knew why there would be a trace of blood and protein when then dipped my urine at doctors today........I have no symptoms but I know I shouldnt have googled it and found bad things........I was at doctors for my IBS.......and the nurse came in and told the doctor there was trace protein and trace blood when she dipped my urine.........so now Im worried........doc said maybe it was an UTI,......but I have no symptoms.....any ideas?....thanks Valerie

Valerie: I've had blood in my urine many times. Usually I have symptoms of some kind; pain---and burning on urination. Frequency too. You might have a little infection. Is your doctor going to put you on a course of antibiotics? Refer you to a urologist?

I am going through the same thing.....dr. found blood in my urine but found no infection what-so-ever.....i went because i have been having symptoms off and on and decided to go get tested to find out for sure.....i also googled "blood in the urine" and i'm scared out of my wits now....

Where there is blood present there is always protein, because there is protein in blood.

Some people show trace blood in their urine without having anything wrong with them at all, my daughter shows trace blood every time and has been checked out thoroughly. Last year it was crazy with me as well, I'd show trace blood but know infection, then infection and know trace blood. I bought the dip sticks on line and about drove myself crazy checking ever day, some days showed trace some days nothing. Finally I went to a specialist and was checked out, nothing except sometimes I show trace blood like my daughter. Hugs Jill

i went for another urine test .....no blood,no infection and i was happy about that.I think maybe both times i showed blood in my tests was because of my periods....the first time i was getting ready to start one and the second time i had just finished one...so i wore a tampon this time just to be sure and the test was fine.Years ago they always had women insert a tampon before a urine test,why did they stop doing that?
