Hi everyone,
I just don't get it. Just when I am feeling better. All of a sudden out of the blue, I get this surge of cold fear. It's like this coldness just shoots through my stomach and then I notice I am shaky and weak. I tend to notice that right after I have finished my period it takes literally days until mid cycle to feel halfway normal, what ever halfway normal is anymore. Now I am walking around with this low level constant anxiety!!!!!!!!!! eeeekkkkkkk

Debra, you're not the only one with this symptom,,,,,I've got it too! You described it perfectly, COLD fear , that's it!
yes, I know the feeling all to well. I believe it is a panic attack. I can get this out of nowhere as well. I can be fine one minute, and suddenly without warning, POW! I always keep xanax on me! lol ..... and yes, to actually feel normal again, DOES take days! I always have this low level of anxiety thing going on as well, it's never really gone.

Debra, this is all very hard, and our hormones just keep changing! If it's not one thing, it's another! Hang in there, it's all we can do! (P.S. I should mention here, that, that cold fear shooting through my body, has gotten somewhat better.....over time. so, I bet it'll be the same for you eventually.) BIG HUGS!

This is one of the symptoms that make me more anxious than I am already because it is a new one for me. I feel like I wont stop shaking and then I get more worried about whether there is something wrong with me for real this time.

Hi mydarling, It's such an nasty rush. I literally have to take a deep breath and tell myself I am fine. No warning, nothing. I especially hate it when it happens at night and wakes me up. I am so glad to hear that yours is finally getting better with time. At least theres some hope............Big hugs back to ya.......Debra

Stitch, this symptom is very new to me and that's why I can't seem to get a handle on it. I stil can't tell if it's hormones or raw fear. Either way it's distressing to say the least. Hang on.....this too shall pass............

Lizardlover, I am wondering why after all of these years of having panic attacks it's morphing into the cold fear thing. I think it must be some narly mix of hormones meets fight or flight reflex and explodes in stomach.........How nice for us....

Hi Debra ......

yeah, it has gotten SOMEWHAT better, which means basically, that it doesn't happen as often, but still happens .... also, i've come to know now, that it's anxiety, and not something serious .... at first, I used to think there was something really wrong with me ... just like every one of the other symptoms! But, it seems to have SOMEWHAT subsided, so, in a way, it's better. Like i said though, i don't leave home without the xanax!..lol...no, because, I still get these lovely panic and anxiety feelings out of nowhere. This panic thing, sets off other symptoms i think....at least, that's how it seems.

Hi all, I have had some terrible anxiety symptoms..last night being the latest...I got startled awake and my heart started pounding, my husband kindly rubbed my lower back, then my sternum area (he has a relaxing energy about him) trying to relax me, the heater went on and the heat made me start gasping for air, I jumped up and ran to my open window and gulped the cold night air until I felt a little better. Then I took a 1/2 an Ambien and drifted off the sleep. Let me tell you Ambien is my friend. I get the vibrator feeling in my left leg too. I also have health anxiety to the point where I have put off my Mammogram for the last 2 years (my last one came back wierd, but it was just a cyst that the radiologist almost passed on, however, I was terrified for 5 days until the ultrasound confirmed it was nothing) It makes no sense. Ugghhh!! I put in an order for Xanax because I have finally made an appt for a physical and mammo and I am ready to cancel....again. I love this site it helps me immensely from totally going off the deep end. biggrin.gif

Hi all,
Just wanted to try and give you some comfort on this one. I have never suffered anxiety or panic attacks in my life but at the stage you mention the attacks of cold, crawling, irrational fear that popped up out of no-where were SURREAL! I can't image what they must be like if you are slightly anxious person as well. I also used to suffer black mood swings that used to creep up on me from no-where. It used to feel as if I had put on the opposite of rose tinted spectacles! Weird........
The good news is that, as a stage it has gone, thank goodness. All very normal in the shut down period. Don't let it scare you. Treat it like a bad dream that you can control, push it away and only accept a dream about Johny Depp instead. wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif

I wonder if these attacks are more of a fight or flight reaction.........I also get them out of no where and it doesnt matter if Im having a anxiety ridden day or not....I had one when I was out with my family at a funny play....had driving my car and had one while hanging up curtains.......so it doesnt seem to matter what Im doing when I have them......matter of fact this feeling was my first meno symtom last July.......but they have calmed down.......I seem to get them about 4 or 5 times in a week but they dont last long........its seems like they do but in fact they are gone in less then 2 mins. but have the goose bumps for about 10 mins.......gotta luv these hormones.......

Dear 'Ladies'

I too am no stranger to the Panic Attacks where I felt my brain would explode.I would wake up suddenly startled, feel too terrified to drive yet didn't want anyone to drive me as they would surely have a crash!I could not go in an elevator as sure it was going to break down.No one would come to my aid and my stiff body would fall out many weeks later as they pried the door open.
Than God for Xanax, used with discretion and for my regular Yoga Classes. Both have helped tremendously.Am still a bit of the nervous, jumpy type but that's o.k.I now know I am not going to die
Wish You all Peace and Relaxation in 2009

Seasons Greetings

OMG, 'Cold Fear' is the best description I have ever heard for the hormonal panic that used to hit me out of nowhere. I spent so many days and nights feeling such horrid anxiety not knowing what in the heck was wrong with me. After time my mind was able to wrap itself around the concept of adrenal rushes and the fight or flight symptoms from the surge. I want to encourage all of you going through it, this will END. I had it bad, and now I no longer have any of it, at all! So hang on and lean on us. The 'cold fear' will go away!
Jonie
Jalyn is so right!
I too had it so badly and it's all gone!
Go to "Recovery Story" to be encouraged.
God bless you and may 2009 be a good year!
