Hello, Ladies! So glad I found this place this morning. Please bear with me!

Well, same story as I've read several times here--15 months since last period, and today I start spotting, only on the toilet paper so far. Though by the way I feel, it could easily end up a full-fledged period!! Have had sore breasts for two week, and for the past three days been extremely anxious, shaky, sleepy, tired, and crampy. I have thyroid issues, too, but was just checked and those levels are normal, so I was trying to figure out what in the world was going on. I was one of those stupid people that thought once I reached the one-year mark w/o a period, that was it! I had a fairly easy menopause period, so I'm now wondering if post will make up for it.

Left a message for the doc about the spotting, as she said to call her if this happened. (My last checkup was in August and all was well). I'm worried about having to do an ultrasound, because every time in the past when I was supposed to have one, I got about halfway through the required deluge of required water and threw up. If she decides to do something now, instead of having a wait-and-see approach, I wonder if she can just do a biopsy and leave it at that. If I can't drink enough w/o throwing up, what good is it to try to do an ultrasound? Even if I can go to the bathroom, if I drink too much at one time, I get really sick on my stomach.

I'm not taking anything now, natural or otherwise. Anybody have any suggestions? I can't do the soy thing because of my thyroid issues, so that's out.

Thanks, ladies....

welcome to the board, while I am just in peri, not post,I feel for you and hope you find some relief.Evening primrose oil has been a huge help for my sore breasts, cramping and pms moodiness, just take the recomennded amount on the bottle, and you should start getting some relief in a few weeks. For sooner relief, try taking walks, getting plenty of rest and avoiding caffiene and sugar.I hope you feel better-GOD-bless

There's a lot of us here that have had the same experience. Sometimes a shock can bring it on. Try not to worry too much about it.

I had the same experience feeling so anxious, fidgetty, aching boobs, hot flashes etc but it has calmed down a lot and I'm three years post (I think) at 54.

Thank you for the support, ladies. It's just such a bummer, as I "mistakenly" thought once I'd reached the magic one year w/o a period, I was home free! Ha! dry.gif

Received a return call from the ob/gyn office. The nurse said the doc does want to see me, but not until next week. She wants to wait and see what happens between now and then, whether it continues spotting, ends up a full-fledged period, etc. Didn't mention an ultrasound, but did mention a possible biopsy (not definitely, though), which I would much rather have if I had to choose.

Still on the very, very light side, but have all the other physical symptoms I used to get.

Hope you ladies are doing well! smile.gif

Hello Pam, Welcome to PS

I am hoping that your situation is nothing but the normal things that many of us go through. I think that since our bodies are made up of hormones and that they control everything, they also fluctuate all the time. Any small variation in your hormones can produce a bleed or spotting.

I'm glad that your doctor will check things out. wub.gif wub.gif

This year ( at age 50), I am experiencing all the strange things happening more and more. I had no period all year until July, then I just woke up and had a full blown period, bled for days!!! Then back to nothing but strange phantom periods (where you feel crampy and PMS but nothing happens). Then last week, out of the blue another period came and lasted 6 days. I've also heard of many women going beyond 12 months without a period, only to have some light period come along and then disappear again.

I have a friend at work who stopped having her periods at age 48, she is now 54 and is still suffering with hot flashes! I guess these things are part of the process for many.

Please let us know how it goes, I hope all will be positive.

Thanks so much ladies for your support!

Well, today it looks and feels like a full-fledge period! Oh, well. Tuesday seems like a long way a way at this point.

Pam,

Just want to reassure you that you are ok. It is not abnormal at all. In fact I don't know that there is a "normal" thru all this stuff! Seems the abnormal IS the norm. Have you noticed hot flashes have diminished? Usually a surge in estrogen means you will feel somewhat better (for most anyways). I would just relax and ride it out. See what next month brings!!

Pam, I agree that it is probably just one of those things! Good for you though to leave a message with the doctor. This could just be vaginitis. I had that once.

Sincerely,
Suzanne

Dear Pam

Big welcome to the Forum.Lots of great supportive ladies around here.

I am 57 and was Menopausal in my thirties but till now I get some light spotting and bleeding.Granted I am on a -no bleed- synthetic HRT but it is not supposed to happen but it does!At first high panic and rushing to the Gyno for the works.Thank God always normal. In the end the Gyno.admitted that they do not have the answer to all the Peri or Post symptoms-big understatement! but ovaries will often continue to surge . The body also produces minimal amounts of estrogen.

Anyway it always wise to check things out but Thank God that nine times out of ten proves to be nothing abnormal.

Wish You Well
