I just wanted to comment on this. I sometimes make a pie for our family Thanksgiving, but last year I was so stressed out about the holidays, as we were getting ready for a bathroom remodel too, that I bought a nice pie from a local bakery. My sis was disappointed that I didn't make one from scratch, and that hurt my feelings because she had no idea how stressed out I was! Then the BIL said something about how he heard that bakery actually has a big facility where they make them, and therefore they are not hand made--turns out that was not true. People were 'dissing my pie and I really resented it!

Early in my marriage I had both sets of parents over for dinner. I used to use those pre-made refrigerated pie crusts. I was very proud of the pie I made for the dinner! My mom complimented me on the pie I made. Then MIL, a farmer's wife, said, "Well, if you call that 'making' a pie if you use those pre-made crusts." I was so mad! I then resolved that if she can make her own pie crusts, then so can I and I've made my own ever since, LOL!

I know a lady who was a pastor's wife, and their first church was in a rural area. The poor lady was so busy with children and also going to school to get a degree. She bought a pie for some pot-luck event, and the ladies in the church whispered about how she brought a store-bought pie instead of making one from scratch. How sad is that?

I guess sometimes pie can be a problem, LOL!

Actually, maybe a good old fashioned pie in the face is what those ladies need!

I think those store bought pie crusts are excellent. Ina Garten uses them and she is a wealthy, gourmet cook. Some people...
