Has this happened to anyone else?
I don't take any medications at all, although it began when I STOPPED taking bcp.
I eat very well.. better than anyone I know. Lots of veggies (though I'll admit I don't eat fruit, I know it's bizarre.. but I hate fruit.), nuts, whole grains, some lean protein... I don't eat very much meat. I lost a great deal of weight while on the BCP - almost 130lbs.
Unfortunately, in the two years since I stopped taking the pill, I have gained almost 60lbs... while maintaining a pretty decent diet. I'm not perfect, I eat junk every now and then.. but if I have to choose between a cheeseburger and a salad, I will always opt for the salad.

I don't "work out" regularly, but I have a job that keeps me busy, and I am generally active.
I have even been keeping a food journal, and I eat much better than even *I* thought I did. I'll give a day's example :

Breakfast- english muffin w/PB ; 1 cup cereal w/almonds and sunflower seeds, 1/2 cup milk
Lunch- romaine salad w/feta cheese and light italian dressing
Dinner- ham sandwich (bread: 70cal/slice), cottage cheese
Snacks- handful of mixed nuts, 2 squares dark chocolate, 1/2 packet high fiber oatmeal
Beverages(other than water)- hot green tea, 1 can ginger ale, herbal tea w/honey

Anyone have explanations for this? Or even similar stories?

I should also mention that I still haven't figured out what is going on with my hormones. I am 26, and unsure if it is peri, thyroid, adrenal... who knows. Just curious if anyone else has dealt with unexplained excessive weight gain.

You're only 26, it's doubtful it's normal peri. You might have some ovarian dysfunction though. You should have your hormones checked, and get a full gyn exam. I know other women will recommend that you have your thyroid and other things tested as well, I'll let them be specific about that.

Dear'neffie
I agree with Sandra. You should have a full Thyroid work out plus Fasting Blood Sugar with your Doctor.I read your menu and it is very sensible so am guessing something else maybe going on.

Keep us posted

Good Luck
