Hi, I'm new here so Im introducing myself, my name is Joyce. I am 56 yrs old, an active female, musician and married with 3 kids and 4 grandkids. Since going into menopause I have been so dry down there that its very hard to have sex so I avoid it. (poor husband tries to do his best , even at his 59 yrs of age he is ready and rarin' to go) anyway, I was at gyn about 2 months ago, was given a pill for fungus, thought it helped but was itchy little while after, took some over the counter monistat on my own, seems I didnt itch for a month , than I am itchy now. I do exercise and maybe sweating started it up, dont know. anyway, the gyn said I have cracks inside, its very very atrophied. probably atrophied lichen sclerosis (without a biopsy) and she gave me estrace cream and triamicinolone acetate l%. I am trying not to wear underwear as much as possible. she said if itching didnt go away I would have to have vulvar biopsy in 2 months. I hope this goes away with my treatments!! Im very neurotic when it comes to these things so it doesnt help! anyone have this? can anyone pls help and let me know. I
am glad I found the boards. everyone needs support when something happens to them.
also, I have a low thyroid which is being treated and have had psoriasis since childhood. (but she doesnt see it there )
Im freaking out somewhat! would appreciate any help.

thank you all so much,
Joyce huh.gif

I have lichen Scloricis (have had since my 30s), I'm 56, and it seems to have gotten worse as I've gone through menopause. I use Clobetosol some of the time, but recently my doctor gave me .5% Desonide cream to use twice daily. It really seems to help and it's mild so I can use it more often. The Clobetosol is just for flare ups, although I used to use it 2-3 times a week.

Hang in there. The Desonide cream helps me a lot. I'm not itching so much, but if I forget to use it, I start itching again. I guess I will have this for life.
