Good morning everyone,
Thank you all for answering my various questions and here I am with yet another one. Last night I began to experience some weird pains running down the back of my thighs along with some strong ovulation pains in my lower pelvis area. I felt just like I used to 14 days into my cycle when I was getting my periods. Haven't had one in 5 months and have been on BHRT for almost three weeks now.
This morning, I also have the stringy 14 day mucous that would usually tell me that I will get my period in the next couple of weeks (it's how I could tell what was going on in my cycle).
I haven't had any of these symptoms in a long time so what's going on??? I didn't expect to go backwards on hormone replacement......;-O

Manyboys,

It is not uncommon at all, when supplementing with hormones, to have your natural cycle start back up again. Sometimes it happens for the first couple months and then stops. It just indicates that your own hormones were not completely gone yet....just too low to bring on a cycle.

Yes, indeed, this happened to me, 28 days after starting BHRT I menstruated.

My doctor said it was the brain: the hormones spoke to the brain and said, Go!

It is called estrogen-priming.

It only happened that one time though.

OK. This all makes some sense, but at this point I am on them continuously until I revisit the dosages with my doc in another month and a half. Could I get a period while I'm still taking the Prometrium? I thought I would have to stop it in order to bleed.

You still can have a period, even while taking prometrium. However, if you don't....I wonder if you shouldn't stop the Prometrium for a few days to shed any lining you have??
