I cannot believe this is still going on. I just read this morning that over 600 mobile homes were burned and totally destroyed in what was a senior housing development.

Mother Nature can be a formidable force. My prayers go out to the people affected by this tragedy...

Yes, this is terrible! Our PS sisters MenoManager (Deb) and Tinkybug both live in the area affected, and I'm so worried about them both... haven't heard from them since yesterday. I heard that 12,0000 residents from Anaheim have been ordered to evacuate.

I have two relatives that lost or nearly lost their homes in California fires in the past few years. So very scary!

I live in CA. This round has been terrible. I have several family members affected by the fires. Many, including my daughter live near Yorba Linda. Many family members have been evacuated. Cell towers are down so communication is sparatic.

I know everyone is safe, but I know many who have lost their homes. The winds have calmed down some, but they are still blowing. Until the winds stop there is little hope of bringing the fires under containment.

RedFox- the city of Anaheim is NOT in danger. The area in danger is Anaheim Hills which is a few miles and east of the city of Anaheim. Are MenoManager and Tinky IN Anaheim, or Anaheim Hills??

Hiya Red and my fellow PS Sisters,

It is so sad to see this. My heart and prayers out to my fellow So. Calif. people.

Red I am neither in Anaheim or the Anaheim hills.
When Daughter and I went to the Brea Mall yesterday we saw it at its earliest state. We saw what is now the Brea fire we are about 20 or so miles away.

We can see the smoke from here our cars and yard are full of ashes but the danger of it reaching my city isnt something to worry about.

God bless us all and God help us.

Love the bug

Leanne, I guess Tinky answered your question... and I'm so glad she and MenoManager are safe. I guess the news got it wrong (what's new??!!), as they did say 12,000 residents from Anaheim were evacuated. I hope you continue to be safe, Leanne... and I'm so sorry for those you know who have lost their homes. I hope your daughter near Yorba Linda is okay.

I am saddened by hearing about this fire. I am glad our PS sisters who live in CA are safe, and hope they continue to be!

Robin, were these fires sparked by mother nature?? Or by man?
RoundRobin
Floater, from what I've read it's caused by the Santa Ana winds, and the dry grasses...

They have 6 people right now detained in the Orange County fire. Not sure what exactly has happened yet. Most our fires here in CA are in fact started by people, either by accident or arson, and then with the santa ana winds, and dryness they spread very quickly. Winds alone don't cause fire. Last years Malibu fire was accidently started by a 10 year old playing with matches, and then was too araid to tell anyone.

The winds have calmed down here a lot so hopefully they'll be able to get a handle on the fires. The firefighters are exhausted. Some have been working for 72 hours straight. Sighhhh......

I'm in So. CA, too, and am about 20 miles from the fires. Yesterday, our sky was all brown and smoky. Today it is blue, but the air quality is horrible, you can smell the smoke in the air. We can see all the smoke off in the distance.

My brother was in the area of one of the fires and had his cars packed and was ready to leave last night, as the fire came within a mile of his home. But now things have shifted and the fire has moved away from them and is about 6 miles from their home.

The pictures on TV are devastating and scary. My heart breaks for all of those affected.

Glad to hear that Tinkaminkaroo is good...but I haven't heard if MenoManager is okay. This will be her second bout too if she is affected. She is the lovely lady, that lost her home about 5 years ago if my meno memory serves me correctly.

Thinking of all of you that live in California.

Sincerely,
Suzanne

I haven't scrolled past this post yet. Aniheim Hills is across the 91 fwy from Yorba Linda. I used to live there and I know a few people who had to leave. Don't know if they have homes or not yet. Heard about it Saturday and kept a vigil on the puter most of the night, Crazy terrible event.
