this looked like maybe a good place to post this ... along w/the forgetfulness & stuff, does anybody else find themselves a lot more clumsy than usual? i've never considered myself anything but average in the co-ordination dept., but lately the ridiculousness of my antics have sometimes made me feel like chevy chase or something! anybody? ~sparx*

Ooooo! ~sparks~ I hope I don't get this one.....I have an Antiques shop! Could be very dangerous in my business.lol. BUT, I did run the sink over today when my intention to wash the dishes deserted me in about 3 minutes. Water, water everywhere. What a mess. A few good towels did the trick, caught it before it ran into the carpet in the next room. Was that clumsy or just plain old meno fog forgetful?

jimi - bugs - (((hugs)))

jimi - thanx for your reply. seems like to me my clumsiness may be related to moving w/out thinking things thru - maybe a meno fog thing. all i know is that it certainly contributes to my irritability when i keep dropping stuff etc., unless sometimes i'm able to laugh it off by the sheer ridiculousness of my bumbling about ... hope your sink over-flow was a 1 time deal - it's amazing how a little liquid seems to go such a l-o-n-g way ... take care - ~sparx*

Sparx,
I noticed years ago, I became more clumsy
premenstrually, so this symptom doesn't
surprise me. I sort of related it to not focusing
on the task at hand, because I was preoccupied
with how nasty I felt. Ugh!! The "meno fog"is
aptly named.

sparx---I laughed out loud at your remark, the ridiculousness of the antics have made you feel like Chevy Chase! I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN!!! But lately I'm doing anything except laughing at my own clumsiness. I get so impatient when I can't untie a knot, open an envelope, put a dish into the cupboard without cracking it on the side of the shelf, for crying out loud!! I feel like a huge elephant, knocking things over, spilling everything. Then I get really mad about it. So thanks for the laugh! I'm glad to know that somebody out there has this problem like me!

I always end up spilling food all over myself!

...............and just once I wish I could get my coffee actuallly in my mouth instead of down my blouse!! I was a dinner guest at a rather nice gathering recently- I was afraid to eat!! I made it through the meal without spilling anything, but I did drop my fork- twice!! LOL!

I don't know if I have been dropping things more, but sometimes I feel very off balance when I stand up or walk (but I'm not drunk!!!! :cheesy: ). lol Has anyone else experienced this?

jimi, I had the sink overflow once, years ago when my daughter was a baby (thats another time for lack of coordination - early motherhood!). There is one thing good about all that water - the floor finally gets clean! smile.gif

Come to think of it, I have been spilling my coffee down my front occasionally too, in recent years!

Hello, dear ladies, What an excellent topic .....clumsiness. I find that my typing is worse than usual...a host of typos. Also I just seem to be klutzy, like an elephant. I seem to have lost any ability to be graceful. Do you think it has to do with an estrogen deficiency and poor nerve condition and proprioreception? What a humbling time this period of life is. All of these strange symptoms can makde us so very self- focused and not like the women we want to be. ( May we out grow this soon.)Tedi

My premenstrual clumsiness has been the subject of many jokes by my family for years. To this day, every month at that time, my husband always warns everyone not to let me near any breakables. I guess peri and meno just exacerbate it. Wonderful....

It's not anyone's imagination. We DO lose "balance" as we age - not necessarily menopause related, as it happens to men too. Yoga and Pilates are wonderful ways to keep and even improve balance.

I've noticed it's a lot harder to balance on one foot while I'm attempting to put the other foot into my pants for instance... it probably looks kinda comical as I have to hop in order to not fall over and I end up grabbing something to steady myself... I keep meaning to sign up for that yoga or pilates class myself...

I have to concentrate whenI'm holding something in my hands, or I'll drop it -- seems like when I was younger my hands would remember all by themselves.
