Hi everyone!! I am brand new to this website...thank god you are all here!!! I am 6 days post partial hysterctomy and I feel horrible!!! For the last 2 days I have been suffering from overwhelming anxiety attacks, cold chills, headache, sweats etc. I was told by my gyn that since my ovaries were being left in I wouldn't have any issues...does anyone have any idea what is happening to me?
Thanks Bren

I am sorry nooone answered, I haven't had a hysterctomy so i am not one to give any info on this. I think your body just went through alot, so that may be a good reason why you are having some of this. I hope more people can give you some help and I really hope you start feeling better soon.

Hi brethor, I spoke with you in chat.
Have you spoken to your doctor? Perhaps he/she can prescribe something to relax you as you get adjusted. Are you on any type of painkillers? They have different effects on different people. I know when I had gallbladder surgery they gave me morphine. What a horrible feeling! I swear, I don't know how people get addicted to it. I opted for good ol' Advil.
Do you have fever? if so, you may have picked up a lovely secondary infection just from being in the hospital.
Keep us posted.

Hi again, brethor...
I just saw where you posted under another thread.
A few others mentioned possible secondary infection. I would definitely put a call into your doctor. It's a common thing in hospitals now and easily remedied. Good luck, hon.

I take Ativan from time to time to curb my anxiety. I've never had a problem with it and for short-term/occasional use it's just fine.
I think the small white pill is .5mg? (I'm at work, so I don't have the bottle with me)

Oops, forgot to add:
I'm glad you went to the doctor. That was the smart thing to do.
God bless and hang in there!

Hi There!
Don't worry about the Ativan - it's great when you need it. I cut my 1 mg. tablets in half and sometimes even quarters and take along as needed. The doctor said I could take up to 4 mg. per day, but I don't. I usually take between 2-2 1/2 mg. per day, but broken down to halves and quarters. It may make you a little sleepy if you're not used to much medicine, but if you split the pill and take halves, you should be okay. You may want to take the 1 mg. at night to help you sleep better! My doctor said don't worry about the addiction aspect - if you're under a doctor's care, they can wean you off of it when you're ready. Hope you feel better!! Good luck!

Hi Again!
You can definately take tylenol along with the ativan!! I have daily headaches as well and take tylenol, excedrin migraine or sometimes ibuprofen depending on what's causing the headaches! Hope you feel better!

Bren,
No experience with hysterectomy (yet), but hope you are feeling better today. Let us know how you progress.
God bless.

When a woman undergoes a hysterectomy, she goes into surgically induced menopause that results in the condition called "hormone imbalance" even if the ovaries are left intact. The result is side effects of a hysterectomy. Even with the ovaries not removed, the blood supply to the ovaries lessens after the surgery and the ovaries usually cease functioning within 1-3 years.

Hi breth! I think you posted in a couple of places, because I answered you somewhere, just not here. Regarding the tylenol: it's best use is to reduce fever. I like ibuprofen for headaches and general pain. If you do decide to take the tylenol, just be sure not to consume any alcohol of any kind; the combination can be dangerous.

Hi Evening Primrose....thanks for the info.....should I be talking to my Gyn about some kind of hormonal replacement?
Thanks
