Hi Ladies

Wow this is my third post today! Must have had too much caffeine ha!ha! Well the verdict is in and my fsh was extremely low and my estrogen quite high. The doctor's diagnosis non-perimenopausal. I just don't understand it. I have all the physical and emotional symptoms. When I asked him about my vaginal dryness he didn't have an answer. What can be causing this? My libido is just fine. At least my boyfriend seems happy LOL. Ladies have any of you experienced symptoms with a normal hormonal diagnosis? Should I get tested again? Should i go to an endocrinologist. I guess I should be happy because I plan on becoming pregnant in a few years (I'm 32) but what if the tests are wrong ? What If I miss my chance? I am just beside myself SOMEBODY PL

I don't think testing is very reliable in peri because our hormoes are flucuating all the time, even in one day they can change a few times.
have you had other testing done, like thyroid?

Hi Moonlight

Yes I had my tsh my free t3 and free t4 tested. Silly, me though I did not ask him for the numbers.Next month I'm going to get tested again and this time see the numbers myself. I want to know my exact fsh and estriadol as well. I was tested on my cycle day two and am not sure if that made much of a difference.

Thanks for replying

Hi Tara,
I'm still fairly new to this but I'm waiting right now for my test results to come in. I have been tested twice before with all results coming back normal, even though I have so many symptoms. My Dr. told me that even if they come back normal it does not mean I'm not peri it just means the tests didn't pick it up. She said it is very hard to detect peri. It ***** though, I guess we just go on living like we're normal even though our bodies are going crazy. And I'm pretty sure I was told getting pregnant is still possible during peri, so good luck to you and just know you are not alone in feeling like this.

My estradiol is very high (was over the top end of normal range last check !) and my FSH is low, but I am very peri.

Tara, you are kind of young to be peri, but it definitely sounds like you've got some kind of hormonal issues going on. If it's not peri, then it might be something else. Did you just switch from one birth control pill to another ? Or stop using them altogether ?

I would suggest that you talk to a doctor who specializes in menopause or IVF, because they seem to be most knowledgeable about hormones.

Hi Sandra

I was on bcp's but did go off them. I think my best bet is to see a specialist or an endocrinologist. I forgot to mention that I do have a genetic link though. My maternal aunt was 36 when she went through menopause. My mom was 46.I guess I just wish I had an answer for the dryness.I guess maybe I should think about having a baby a little sooner than planned. Maybe I will talk to an IVF specialist.

enjoy your evening
Tara

I would say it's not so tough to detect peri. If you are in your late 30's or early 40's and you are starting to have the signs, you are probably peri. I think the one hormone you should look at is progesterone, not estrogen. As a women passes through her 30's she has more and more anovulatory cycles. This will cause the level of progesterone to drop. Estrogen drops later.

Tara, was your progesterone within normal range ?

32 is not a typical age for peri, it really is early. It's possible, but not likely. There are other things that could be causing your symptoms. You could be having some other kind of ovarian malfunction, not peri (depleting supply of follicles/eggs) but some other condition. If your symptoms are bothering you, you should definitely seek out a different doctor.

Hi Sandra

I actually did not have my progesterone checked. I had my estradiol, testosterone,lh, cortisol and just about everything but. Like I mentioned before though I think I am going to get re-tested next month. I will certainly make sure my progesterone is tested this time. If I am still not happy I make take your advice and seek out another doctor.

Thanks

Hi Tara,
I can only add to the "dryness" side of your posts. I was peri in my late 30īs, my Mom went in to menopause around 47 and I also did too. I know this sounds rather DUHish but if you drink a lot of coffee, you might be chronically underhydrated, and saliva and body fluids depend on water to make that nice viscosity. If you canīt make a good old fashioned spit "rope" drooling towards the ground, youīre thirsty, and need to drink more water. For every cup of coffee drink two of water. You need at least 2 liters a day, 3 is best. Also, you might think you are dry but it could be the fault of a condom brand or lube. I canīt use latex condoms, they rub the heck out of me and hurt. Non-latex are better, but best are the ones made from sheep intestines, wonīt say the brand here, but has to do with Lambs of course. I wash the lubes that come with the condoms off and use my own that I like. And maybe you two just need to slow it down a bit ahahahahaha. Having to use a little lube never hurt anyone, it doesnt mean you arenīt functioning. Maybe youīre just really active and need it. I am fine at age 49 and have been 2 years in to menopause. Having sex regularly keeps things functioning, I got it figured out and reversed some atrophy and shrinkage in time. You donīt have that problem. Try the water first. I toucld be as simple as that. Our bodies arenīt actually all that complicated like some Doctors would like us to think....

Thank-you so much for your reply.I try to drink at least four bottles of water a day. As of a few days ago I don't seem to be as experiencing the same sort of dryness. Maybe my body is correcting itself on it's, own who knows?

Enjoy your evening

Make sure if you're having your bloodwork done that they check your estradiol on day 3. Otherwise, it's not particuarly valid.
TaraLindsay
Thanks for the tip terrystone I will be sure to have it tested again in my cycle day three.

Thank-you so very much Sandra I had no idea!
