I've been having night sweats for some time now. They are very annoying. Fortunately I am not sweating too much, I just get clammy. I do have to throw the down comforter off though, and then I have to pull it back up because I am also getting chills.

Last night at 2:30am I woke up with a strong night sweat AND an adrenaline rush ! WTH ???? My heart was beating about 120bps, I could feel it ! After moving around on the bed I decided to get up, that seemed to help. I walked around the condo for approx 5 minutes, then got back in bed and watched TV for a while. My heart calmed down after about 20 minutes. I had another more minor episode several hours later.

Even though I always test high on estradiol, my gyn said that supplementing E might help me. I was going to wait until March to see her, but I think I will make an earlier appointment and get some E cream. This is really crazy. I know some of you have it a lot worse, I totally comprehend your frustration now !

I know exactly what you are talking about. My adrenaline suges got a lot better after I started using Progesterone cream. You might try that first before adding more estrogen.

Sandra...

what I'd like to know is.....how does one differentiate between a menopausal hot flash and a adrenal surge flash?

Last night I felt TERRIBLE too....I felt warm most of the night and had to keep playing the on/off duvet game, but I don't sweat....I just feel terribly warm and cannot get comfortable hence no sleep...I feel so drained today.

I went to bed with a 'one eyed migraine' which I seem to have begun when peri - now menopause - hit..it's always over my right eye...wonder what this means!?

I have had some good spells in the last 6 months, but if this means the bad times are returning then I want none of it!

Let me off this roller coaster!!!

My prior hot flashes and night sweats had not been coupled with such an excessively hard or thumpy heart beat. That was the first time. It seemed really unusual for it to happen overnight, it's not like I'm running around. :-) I have also had independent adrenaline rushes that were not combined with overheating in any way. To have the two together was very disconcerting !

Happymom, I've been using Pro-Gest for almost 2 years now and it was very helpful for most of that time but now I think I'm in the end-stage of peri and it just cannot overcome my estradiol rollercoaster. I think it's time for me to supplement with estradiol now. I'm ready !

I know I am probably in the wrong area but I am brand new any word of wisdom? I am 6 days post partial hysterectomy and I am experiencing what I think are hot flashes and severe anxiety attacks...what do I do?

Thanks for any insight

There's a section in the forum specifically for hysterectomy. You should post there, I'm sure you'll find good help there. If you had one or more ovaries removed and your doc did not advise you on hormone replacement, you should definitely research that.

I suffered from night sweats for several months. I know how debilitating they can be. It is totally impossible to sleep. Thankfully mine have gone away. I hope the E cream helps

enjoy your evening
