Hi! My name is Linda-just a little history. While unsuccessfully trying to conceive our first child, I (29 years old) was told I had "premature ovarian failure." I am currently 38 years old. I had horrible Meno symptoms for a couple of years and finally my gyno put me on HRT. I feel a heck of a lot better but, still have one HUGE HUGE PROBLEM. I have such bad vaginal atrophy that my husband of 10 years and I haven't had sex in approx 8 months!!!!! It literally does not fit--sorry don't know how else to say it. And, when I mean excruciating pain--I literally cry--and I'm not wimpy and can take a lot of pain. I am currently on FemHRT and my doc just prescribed Vagifem (25 MCG) tabs to insert vaginally. I just started taking both for approx a week, but a part of me is a little worried that it's a lot of estrogen.

I will do ANYTHING to be able to have sex again with my husband (poor guy!). It's too soon to tell if this is going to help me or not. Anybody else in the same boat and have any thoughts or recommendations?????

Thanks!!!!!!!!

Linda

many women find they need vaginal estrogen in addition to their hrt. it will take at least 6 weeks to notice improvement, longer if your atrophy is as severe as you think it is.

Hi Linda: I sympathize with you. Im a little older than you but have severe vaginal atrophy with some cracking inside.
I got this after menopause. But even though Im older I understand what you are going through. My husband tries to understand. yes, it hurts so much. I avoid sex! Now I am taking estrace cream and trying triacimalone acetate cream on the vulvar area which is itchy by the lip area. (great we girls can talk to each other, this board is so needed!)
I think we need the estrogen. we dont want to take it but we have to. I avoided it but I have no choice.
try to put lots and lots of lubricant on you and him! until it is resolved see if that helps. truthfully it only helps me a little but maybe with the estrogen therapy now after awhile (hopefully) it will be better. also I have atrophic lichen sclerosis. which is the severe atrophy like you, but has your doctor mentioned anything about lichen sclerosis? let me know how you are doing.
we really all have to support each other. I feel bad that you are young with these symptoms!

hope I can help,
