Hi! My name is Linda-just a little history. While unsuccessfully trying to conceive our first child, I (29 years old) was told I had "premature ovarian failure." I am currently 38 years old. I had horrible Meno symptoms for a couple of years and finally my gyno put me on HRT. I feel a heck of a lot better but, still have one HUGE HUGE PROBLEM. I have such bad vaginal atrophy that my husband of 10 years and I haven't had sex in approx 8 months!!!!! It literally does not fit--sorry don't know how else to say it. And, when I mean excruciating pain--I literally cry--and I'm not wimpy and can take a lot of pain. I am currently on FemHRT and my doc just prescribed Vagifem (25 MCG) tabs to insert vaginally. I just started taking both for approx a week, but a part of me is a little worried that it's a lot of estrogen.

I will do ANYTHING to be able to have sex again with my husband (poor guy!). It's too soon to tell if this is going to help me or not. Anybody else in the same boat and have any thoughts or recommendations?????

Thanks!!!!!!!!

Linda

Hi Linda,
My girlfriend went through this and her gynocologist said that the muscles in the vagina had lost their support and that it was not going to go back on it's own. She ended up having surgery, she also had a hysterectomy at the same time and not only did they tuck her vagina back in but she had her rectum tucked back in as well. That was 7 years ago and she is so glad she did it. I know she also had problems with her bladder and couldn't work out without wetting herself. That was also fixed with the surgery. I hope this helps. Good luck...........Debra

Linda,

For vaginal dryness, another safer form of estrogen is estriol suppositories (conventional doctors may not have heard of this but naturopath doctors will know what this is). There are 3 forms of estrogen - estradiol, estrone and estriol; estriol being the safest form of estrogen, supposedly provide some protection from breast cancer, etc.

Dear Linda

Am so sorry you are going through such a difficult time.I was fully Menopausal at 39 and it took about six months of being on HRT for the atrophy to reverse and the moistness return.Don't forget a couple of years went by before you were put on the HRT but it will improve.Try using KY Jelly. It is a very good lubricant

If there is no change after a few months it might be that the Gyno needs to increase your dosage of Estrogen. When I was put on my current HRT after switching the dose proved to be too low so it was uppedI am now 57 and Thank God no atrophy.

I do hope things improve soon,my dear

Warm Wishes
Elizabeth
