I'm freaking here ladies. I just up and completely quit for 15 months then back in Aug. I got sore boobs etc. and wham a light period. Well I let it go as I had been to the gyno and he said not to be surprised if my ovaries gave one last gasp. Then 6 weeks later an even lighter period with a headache but boobs not sore. Today testing with ultrasound and blood work. After the vaginal ultrasound the tech said he had to show the pics to the Doctor

is this normal procedure or did the tech see something????????? OMG I'll never live till the 19th for the results. Has anyone else bled more than once after meno and not have it be bad news???? Jill

Jill: What the tech did was totally normal. They aren't allowed to interpret the results; a radiologist has to. A bunch of women here have bled after years of no periods. It's always something to get checked out, but chances are it's going to be nothing. Is there a way you can call your doctor and tell them you'd really appreciate if you could get the results sooner?

I had spotting after 12 months with no period...and blood work showed I ovulated.....so I had the pelvic ultrasound, and it revealed a ovarian cyst. My technician who did the ultrasound, did tell me that she would get the tests straight away to the Doc...it FREAKED me out too.
For whatever reason, my ovaries decided they were not through....and honestly, that drop of estrogen made my flashes, insomnia, and crazies all go away. We waited for 8 weeks then did a repeat ultrasound, the cyst was gone. I know this is easier said than done...but try not to freak out too much. These crazy things happen during this time- it is just such a drag.
Let us know what you hear-- and listen to Robin, call your doc, and tell them you would like your doc to call you back with the results as soon as possible, then you can put your mind to rest.
Hugs, Jan

I've had a few of those ultrasounds. They tell you to wait a few minutes, then they show the pictures to a doctor to make sure they are clear to read. They do the same thing with the mammograms, they don't let you get dressed until they have a clear picture.

I am so bummed right now! I was 14 months without a period and feeling pretty good most of the time. Almost two months ago I quit taking Estroven cold turkey. Then I had a lot of clear discharge, more than normal, but nothing ugly or smelly like an infection. Then that subsided. Then I got the very sore and enlarged boobs. And this morning, a period! ugh. I'm wondering if because I quit the Estroven suddenly, my body spontaneously produced its own Estrogen and kicked in this cycle. The last two months are the only time I've been without any form of Estrogen.
So far the period is light. I hope it doesn't get heavy - I had some of those periods, too. I feel so bloated right now, but hopefully it means the sore breasts will go away in a couple days. The same thing happened to my sister, and her doctor said it was like the last hurrah. I'll contact my GYN and they will probably tell me to come in for check of things.
Ugh. I had been carrying around a pad in my purse all these months, hoping it was acting like a talisman to keep away the periods. Oh well.
I'm sure you are fine, too!

I just contacted my doctor too, after having a period 14 months after no period. I'm going to have an endometrial biopsy, just to make sure everything is alright. She said it's probably just spontaneous ovulation. My sister had the same thing 2 years after her last period, and it turned out to be nothing. I think it's more common than we might think. It's just a bit of shock!

Hi WriterMom, Sorry to hear that your going through the same thing, but I guess I have to admit that it's nice to have company through this whole ordeal. So tell me what's so fun about getting old

I've calmed down somewhat but I still cringe when the phone rings thinking it's the Doctor to tell me to get right in pronto or something like that. I did ask the tech that did the ultra sound if my family Doctor would get the results as well as the gyno, and he said that if something was wrong the results would be sent fast but otherwise it would be a week. And he said no news is good news, so hopefully the family Doctor won't have any report tomorrow. Good luck to you and keep me posted. Hugs jill

Well I got my results today and everything up there looks fine. My lining is 6 and the Gyno said that's a little thicker than it should be and I'd likely have another period ???????

My ovary actually showed that it had released an egg recently. So I go back in Feb. for my pap and if I spot he wants to do a flush and retrieve cells for biopsy, spotting being different than a period. He said my body just must have decided to fire out some hormones

Thanks for your support ladies. Jill

Happened to me too. The second time was when it was my daughter's wedding and I think stress brought it on (I think I'd gone two years).
