Had my umbilical hernia surgery in May. One week later I had an large abscess at the incision site. The wound partially healed but has continued draining since then...all summer...we cancelled a vacation...the visiting nurse came every day...none of my neighbors could understand why I wasn't healed...I've had a table with gauze, tape, and saline, set up for 5 months...I was starting to wonder what was really wrong with me.

I finally found a wonderful, caring surgeon who performed a second exploratory surgery in the same area two days ago. He found one infected stitch...ONE TINY STITCH!...removed it, and said "That should do it."

So, I have a new wound, much smaller than the original, that should now close properly.

But I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

"Minor" procedure? What's that?

Thanks to everyone who has been supporting me along the way!

Helen

I'm so happy the 2nd surgeon found your issue and that you heal nicely. Thank God he found it and it didn't turn into something worse.
