Luv2run, Yes sounds like peri to me, right before my period mostly and sometimes just because I get the arm pain my pain is in the left arm hence I thought I was having a heart attack a few years back and then again this past october.
Well I had heart trouble ruled out and blank looks from docs. so I did some reading and searching and found that heat helps the pain. I also apply Capzasin HP cream its a cream made from red capsacium chile peppers and it can get hot when applied but it has no smell and it works for me.
I also have had the ear pressure I read you get this too, I use to think it was BP because it spikes just a few days at the end of my cycle sad.gif but the pressure isnt as bad any more what I have is I have ear thumpn .
I can hear my heartbeat and I believe another PS gal said its called Pulative Tinnitus. Dont worry you arent dying its just what I call strange bird symptoms because people I know dont have these, just the lovely ladies on this God sent website, so keep reading and posting and enjoy the good days and just ride the bad.
Take care, Tinkybug smile.gif

I get this too mainly in my left arm but sometimes in the right. It takes a few minutes to even be able to straighten my arms out. I have asked the doctor about this and like Tinkybug, I have had my heart checked out. I've also had x-rays and tried therapy but nothing has worked. I now just apply some heat until the aching becomes bearable.

Girls about the arm pain its almost as if its a form of artritus. Now it is in my opinion a peri symptom but if you want to Google capsacium you will find that this is a real good form of relief but not only that it has promising testamonies of cures. Now there is no miracle cure but this cream I believe in my arm pain, and costrochoritis which is an inflamation of the rib cage, very painful, has basically taken the pain away. I am due for my period this week and usually by now the arm thing starts and even if I get a small twinge of pain I rub this on and it is relieved.
Now the costro. that I had did go away. The left arm pain thing is just minimal and this does seem to be tied in with peri so until I am done with peri and then meno I will use the CAPZASIN HP creme. Now there are others out there that dont have as much heat this one has 0.1% heat and there are others that have like0.075% capsaicin this one I have is called DR.Sheffields THERMA-RUB CREME, I actually found it at the 99cents store , they have a web site if you cant find it PM and I will sent it to you, good luck, take care, and remember heat really helps, Tinkybug smile.gif

I am 48 & I have been experiencing arm pain in my left arm & sometimes in my right for about a year & a half now. The pain is a dull deep pain that doesn't respond to Advil. I take an Over 45 vitamin by Enzymatic & their Perimenopause herbal supplement a.m. & p.m. If I miss a day of the vitamins & herbals, the pain starts in & takes a day of getting back onto the vitamin before it will go away again. This is such an annoying symptom. My obgyn had never heard of it, but my friend told me to check the internet because it is a perimenopausal symptom. Thank you for the heat suggestion. I've had the pain all day & I'm going to get my heating pad out now.

I've just read this thread for the first time and I hadn't thought that the pains in my arms could be peri-related.

Most of my symptoms have disappeared for now (thanks to bcp), but I have had pains in both arms for some time. The left arm is now getting better but the deep pain in my right arm from elbow downwards is still there. I'm having to be really careful cooking as I nearly dropped a hot saucepan the other day when the pain hit. Thanks for that information Tinkybug I shall be looking at that.

Your welcome Janey, do see what you think it made a big differnce for me and I just had the hubby use it for his achilles tendon for about a month or so and he back to normal now, its incredible, he was having such a hard time with this. He didnt want to use the cream because he didnt like the lil itching feeling you get first, then the burn but over time you get use to it and it really does heal.
If you try it read all the info it is 100% natural and just put a lil first and wait cause it can take a while to get to the inflammed area, dont double dose til you feel the first warmth of it. PM me if you need to I will explain what the pkg doesnt til you, its about trial and error.
Also once you put it on dont shower right after because the warm water activates it again, which is great if you put it on one day and in the am when you shower it activates it again and you feel the warmth instead of the pain, Good luck, Tinks

P.S. and I do believe it is peri related, I had this for a few years about 49 or 50yrs old I am now 53yrs young

I just found this site! The outside of my upper left arm (to my elbow) aches. This has been recurring (not often & not severe) but was really getting worried about it tonight because it aches more than normal (a newish ache that gets to be normal - sigh). Anyway, did a Google search for "aching left arm" & the 1st item was here! Talk about fabulous information! I signed up immediately & sent the link to all my friends. Have been perimenopausal for about 6 years (am 42) with no help or advise other than my Mom telling me my night sweats & hot flashes were normal, and that I would "get used to it" because it took her 15+ years to get past it. Also, based on the information here, am going physician shopping as my doctor thinks I am too young to be going through this & didn't even want to test hormone levels because "if it is menopause then there is nothing I can do if you don't want to take hormones". Will go check out the perimenopausal board next as I can see that all of my other "weird" symptoms are listed in the 34 symptoms.

Thank you so much for this site Dearest!

Wow! Just found this thread blink.gif My left arm is soooooo sore and has been for weeks. Right from my shoulder down to my wrist. A deep muscle pain. Heat helps a bit but only while its on there. As soon as I remove the heating pad its back full force. I never for a moment contributed it to peri. Couldn't for the life of me figure out what I was doing to irritate it. I sleep on my left side so maybe thats not helping. Trying to sleep on my right side but always wake up in pain laying on my left mad.gif Sorry your all experiencing similar pain but its a relief to once again see I'm not alone. (((HUGS))) to you all! ( ok half a hug...can't use my left arm LOL)

Just an update. Couldn't take the pain anymore so had a Dr's appointment today. Arm pain has been dx as tendonitis. Having xrays and ultrasound on Monday just to confirm and rule out anything more serious. sad.gif Taking heavy duty anti inflammatories so hopefully I'll get some relief in a few days. Be well everyone

Cathy
Meryl
Cathy, how is your neck? I have a lot of left arm pain, and it comes from my neck.
CathyW
Hi Meryl
My neck is ok other then occasional stiffness but no bad pain. Have you had it checked Meryl? Pain from the neck radiating down the arm could possibly be a pinched nerve. I have been having this pain for weeks and it continued to get worse. Just this morning noticed some swelling in my forearm and knew it was time to finally go to the Dr. Please don't wait until things are unbearable like I did. Have it checked out.

Take Care
Cathy
Meryl
What do they do for a pinched nerve besides surgery? I refuse to have surgery. It kind of comes and goes, but mostly comes! My sister also has this problem, and is on tons of pills, and that's just not an alternative for me either!
CathyW
I certainly understand your feeling on surgery and meds Meryl. If it is a pinched nerve you could certainly try some physical therapy or see a chiropractor. I would think either of them would be able to help you get some relief
arla
Hi Cathy, I read your post and decided to get my left arm rechecked as it has been aching non-stop. I also got a tendonitis diagnosis. I am going for x-rays again and possibly physio. I can't take the anti inflammatories, I'm allergic to them.
Hi Meryl, I had a pinched nerve in my neck caused by a bad fall about 10 years ago. One of the discs in my neck bulged out against the nerve which caused pain to radiate down my entire arm. They threatened surgery for me but physio, a chriopractor and rest got me through it. It was a good 3 months before I was pain free though. A CT scan or MRI of your neck discs might be a good idea just to make sure.
Meryl
Arla, actually, even though my neck and shoulders still hurt, my arm feels much better since I stopped exercising at a certain nationwide place that specializes in a 30-minute workout. At least one of the machines was aggravating my condition, causing the tingling, numbness and aching in the arm. I miss the exercising and have gained back some weight, unfortunately, but my arm is better! Thanks for thinking of me!

Hi Arla

I'm glad you had your arm rechecked. The anti inflammatories have helped some but not enough (maybe I'm just too impatient) Dr has mentioned the possible need for physio also. Arla try using ice treatments on your arm. I had been using heat thinking it was muscular but apparently I was making it worse!! Hope we both get rid of this pain soon! Mine was getting so bad I wasn't able to use my left arm at all. Take care and let me know how your doing.

Cathy

Thanks Cathy, I will try ice. Actually I didn't even ask the doctor about that and you know doctors, in and out before you can even think of half the questions you want to ask. My arm is really bad too and like yours is pretty well useless at the moment. The constant aching has got me down. With all of our other symptoms we certainly didn't need something like this.
CathyW
Arla how are you doing? My arm is still so achey sad.gif Hope your finding some relief. This is really getting me down also. Feel rotten enough without being in pain mad.gif

Girls I know someone said that the heat made it worse but I had the same thing and the heat made it better. In fact there are many OTC hot creams you can try or patches that wrap around nicely. Thermal-care has one that the lil charcoals in the patch heat up with your own body heat and Capzasin also has a cream and patches that have adhesive on it so it stays on, good luck I know it can be the pits of pain. You know mine usually would act up and still does just a lil, before my period.

Hi Cathy, Thanks for thinking about me. My arm is still quite sore too. I haven't really found anything to help it and you're right it is frustrating to have this happen when so much more is going on with our bodies. If I come up with something that works Cathy I'll let you know.

Tinky, someone else recommended the Thermal-Care wrap around to me too. I'm going to pick one up tonight and try it because I really need some relief from this. The hot creams I have tried before for other things but since I have really sensitive skin they just seem to irritate it. Thanks for all your suggestions though and I will try the wrap.

Cathy, I'll let you know if that works.
CathyW
Hope it works for you Arla. Something has too help sad.gif

This may sound crazy, but I have been experiencing arm pain for about 3 months. First started what felt like deep in the shoulder socket and is now in muscles in upper arm and when on computer seems to want to go numb, but just pulling and tingling appear. Tonight I just got so fed up with it and came across a site that said b12 deficiency can cause this. So I immediately ran to my cabinet where I have an abundunt collection of vitamins and supplements which I think I'll take but never do. So I found my box of Olay multivitamin for women. So I opened the package and read it. It is over 400% b12 along with other vitamins. I felt I cant loose. Much to my surprise within an hour I am here typing and thinking this is now all in my mind. Pain but very little. I will continue on this regime and will post. I did read that menopause causes b12 deficiency can anyone else testify to any of this. I hope it helps the flushing which I seem to get all day all night for a week than nothing for a month. hmmm just had a thought if this might be like a menstral cycle flush 1 week out of 1 month. Thinking out loud. The night tremors scare me because my whole body shakes inside. Can anyone comment on the estrogen ring that is inserted every 3 months does it work? I had a hystorectomy 3 years ago with 1 ovary in place and that is all that is left. I do not take hrt and am hoping I will never have too.

Hello ladies,
ME TOO! If only I had found this thread in 2001 when it started, I would have spent less of the past 3 years freaking out.
My symptoms are periodic sore shoulder, neck muscle spasms, chest pain, deep armpit pain, numb arm and face, rib cage muscle spasms and difficulty breathing, stabbling headache, burning chest and breastbone, all on the left side, of course, so I can worry about my heart.
Long story short, many tests later, a MRI of neck showed 2 spurs, 2 bulges and compressed nerves, so off to rehab I go. It was the most informative medical experience of my life, my therapist went bone by bone, muscle by muscle evaluating me, and linking my sypmtoms to apecific causes. I was expecting neck therapy, but he believes the arthritis in my shoulder has strained the muscles in my back, neck and chest, my poor posture and stress only added to the problem, and 3 years hence, the difference in the two sides of my body is remarkable. My left collarbone is locked in place, while the right springs back normally, same with the first rib on the left. The muscles are strained, the skin is streched taught across my chest and not floating smoothly like the rest of my body, hence the burning skin feeling. The headaches and numbness are most likely the nerve bundle that is irritated and angry. My therapist believes that as I strenghten and relax my shoulder, the rest of my left side will improve quickly. I don't know if this will work, but for the first time in a long time, someone is offering me specific, logical causes and effects to half of my problems and I am optimistic for the first time in a long time. I need 6 weeks of therapy, 3x per week starting tomorrow. I am so sore from the evaluation that I'm dreading it, but I'm relieved that he was able to recreate most of my pain by manipulating my body.
I guess I didn't realize how tense and hunched over I have become, but chronic pain does strange things to the body and mind. Good luck on your journeys, hope this helped a little.
Mella

PS I did ask the obvious, how is this so easy for him to diagnose and so hard for my other doctors? He said nothing negative against other physicians, just that his area of expertise is the muscluar-skeletal system and their relationships, (he has a masters degree in just that body system) Seems there are enough of us suffering, why aren't dr's figuring this out??
Meryl
Thanks for typing all of that. I suffer from the same thing. As a matter of fact, I'm going for an evaluation by a physical therapist on Friday. I hope it works. I didn't have any diagnostic tests, but I know all of my problems come from my neck and shoulders.

Hi CathyW,
I was just wondering how your arm is now? I went back to my doctor because mine just wouldn't stop aching and it was really becoming useless. He suggested an elbow brace (which I have worn before) but this time he suggested a specific brand. It has helped immensely. I have worn it all day for 2 weeks and now when I take it off at night to sleep my arm still feels great. He said to try it for 6 weeks all together. I don't know if I am supposed to put a brand on here but it is by Trainer's Choice and is the official supplier to the Canadian Olympic Team. It is the brace to use for tennis and golfer's elbow and sells for around $30.00 but it is well worth it. While I hope your arm is better and you don't need this if it isn't it is definitely worth a try. Arla
CathyW
Hi Arla

Thanks for thinking of me! My arm is still giving me grief. It is a bit better then it was but still hurting. Thanks for the info on the elbow brace. I'll see if I can find one around here. Glad its helping you get some relief! I actually was planning to see my Dr this week about the arm...this has been going on far too long. Hope you continue to feel better.

Hi Girls: A friend of mine is experiencing pain in her left arm, (the whole arm). She describes the pain to be deep inside. She also has chest tightness, with a little shortness of breath. She has been to the doc's twice now and he has ruled out a heart attack, BP is fine. Has had a Cardiagram and doc said her heart is fine. He said it is probably a pre-menopause symptom. Has anyone experienced anything similar. We all know how meno has strange and unusual symptoms, my friend explains that when this is happening she finds the air or her breathing tastes funny (hope I explained that right). Would love to hear from anyone. As for me, well, im hanging in there, dont feel as scared anymore about all these crazy things happening to me (especially since i found this site). Two years ago, i was convinced i had a terminal disease, and found out how so many of you felt the same way I did. It really helps to know I am not alone in this battle.........Allie

Hi Allie ~
I have experienced the same EXACT thing! My left arm aches, way deep inside, for no apparent reason. The chest tightness and shortness of breath I attribute to the anxiety I feel on a regular basis. Sometimes mine is accompanied with nausea....depends on how bad the attack is.

I went to the doc for the chest thing several years ago because i thought i was having a heart attack. Found out it was acid reflux and now I'm on prilosec which has helped pretty much erase that feeling. However, I do, because of my anxiety, still experience the chest tightening...i lose my breath....etc. I know it's not a heart attack, and it doesn't feel the same as the time I drove myself to the emergency room, only to find out acid reflux.....but it is scary when you're experiencing it. I have to do a lot of self talk and deep breaths (as much as I can when I'm in that state). Usually in a half hour or so I start to feel better.

Just now realizing that the achiness in my arm seems to be fairly common among the women on this site. Just like the burning in my mouth (sometimes my tongue), aching heels/feet, nasty headaches, etc. I think it's all just part of it. Not fun mind you, but at least I'm feeling like I can muddle through. If it all gets too much for me then maybe I'll check into the fibromyalgia thing. I just don't think that's what's going on with me. It is a thought though for your and/or your friend wink.gif

Take care,
Rose

This arm thing is deeply annoying. My left shoulder has always been the first part of my body that's reacted to stress by becoming painful. Now its my entire shoulders, left and right, and neck.

My doc started me on bio-estrogens, and the first time I applied the first patch - within an hour - i felt this weird tingling sensation. I realized that it was the knots relaxing.

Needless to say, the patch was too small and the dose needed tweeking - and still does...

Anyway, the neck/shoulder thing is back, and the pain in my arms is unrelenting. It is, as the first poster noted, deep within the muscles

It doesn't even make sense to me. We all know what its like to "over do it" and have sore achy muscles. When you use those muscles again, they are clearly not working up to par.

This is different. I'm no Arnoldette Schawrtzeneggar, but I can, and do pack around a bag or two of feed or a bale of hay 45-60 lb. I would have thought, sore as I am, that this would be beyond my ability.

Too weird.

I wonder, since I think its hormonal, if its related to testosterone. Isn't that the hormone most associated with muscles?

Are any of you also suffering other signs of low testosterone?

Hiya Duch,
You know I had the arm pain thing for a long time and have only recently noticed it almost gone.
You know I know mine was hormonal because I started writing down the days it would hurt and it was before my period and sometimes both arms would go tingly and the mostly dead, scarry.

I started putting heat on it, heating pad , hot creams and it really has almost gone away.
Yes it was in the shoulder and in the chest area too, in the rib cage all that area.

Try some heat it cant hurt right?

Take care,

I have had deep muscle pain in my left arm pain for years. Mine is due to cervical problems tho. I had my first cervical fusion 19 years ago. At that time my left arm ached so bad that I could barely use it.

2 years ago the arm pain started again, along with neck and shoulder pain and pain under my shoulder blade. Sure enough, another disc pressing against the spinal cord. I got relief almost immediately after surgery. Surgery this time was a breeze compared to 19 years ago too. I was in the hospital for 24 hours, and outside of being tired for a few days, it was a pretty easy surgery.

I still get the occasional arm pain but I still have 2 discs that will need surgery in several years. I'm waiting for the artificial cervical disc to get FDA approval so I don't have to be fused. I'd probably never be able to turn my head again with 4 fusions.

I think if any of you are having chronic arm pain, and your Dr has ruled out any heart related problems, you should ask for an MRI of your neck. My neurosurgeon said that not all ruptured or herniated discs are accident related. They can be age related as well. Doing our lifes work, like Duch does hauling bags of feed around, gardening, our posture and even lifting 40 lb bags of salt for the water softner can pop a disc. Sometimes people will live their whole life with a bad cervical disc and never have any symptoms. Others will be in agony.

Hi Arla

I hope by now your arm is doing great. Mine subsided for a bit. Thought maybe it was going to go away but for the last two days it has flared up terribly. I haven't been able to find the brand of elbow brace you mentioned. I see you are in Ontario also. Could you let me know where you found it? I'm at my wits end with this! I am a few days away from being due for a period so I am really wondering if its hormonal.

Hello Marshmella! I just stumbled upon your post after I did a search on "burning chest" and found your symptoms-- I swear I could have written them myself!! I have been having a zillion crazy menopause symptoms like palpitations, pounding heart, acid reflux, but the most unnerving is my shoulder pain and all the other things you mention. I went to the doctor and she diagnosed it as bursitis, but it is getting worse and without xrays, how do you really know what it is? I have a BIG question: can you please describe your rib cage muscle spasms for me? I am having some kind of weird thing going on over my left breast and under my left arm that I think is some kind of spasm. I have also had heart tests and my cardiologist said it sounded muscular or pulmonary-- I am also having trouble breathing. I hope you read this and can answer my question-- thanks so very much!! And are you feeling better?

Hello,
I have also been experiencing this left arm discomfort. My arm feels weak and somewhat sore. It is not pain. Just feels like this deep warm discomfort that is hard to pin point where exacly in the arm is comming from. At times It feels like is in the bone not the muscle. Last night I put on a heat pad and it did help a bit. So does everyone agree that it is also related to peri?

Montana,
I really think it is hormones. Six months after I had my baby, I had this side ache and my left arm had this heaviness (hard to describe) ... I thought I was having a heart attack. Well, that was 13 years ago... now I have other things going on. Also when my younger sister (age 44) was pregnant with her 5th child, she complaint about her left arm hurting her all the time (almost like a numbness)...
she is fine and the ny niece is now 16 months.

Anyway, I think if you don't have any other symptoms like tightnesss in the chest, heart palpitations, etc. I would treat this as muscleache and those darn hormones. But again, if in doubt, do see a doctor.

Take care and hope your arm feels better soon.

Hi Montana

I'm still dealing with the left arm pain. After ultrasounds looking for blood clots and xrays all came back normal I just have to add this to my list of strange peri symptoms. Too many of us having the same problem for it not to be connected to hormones. I hope yours starts to feel better soon!

Plumeria,
Thank you for responding to my post. I wil be visiting the Dr. Soon for my annual and I will ask her about it. After reading so many of us are dealing with this I am not too worried about it. I am just tired about freaking out about every little thing... augh.....

Montana

Cathy,
I have read your post about your arm pain too. I hope you are feeling better. Last night I tried to sleep on my right hand side and I also put a bit of my progesterone cream on my arm. So far it feels ok. Maybe that helped. Thak you so much for responding to my post.

Montana,

Recent my left leg was hurting me and I took tylenol extra strength (whatever dosage it recommends) for 3 days and it disappeared. In November I also had leg pain on the right leg this time, lasted 5 days, when to the doctor and she told me to do stretching exercise and tylenol...anyway, both times this happened, my period was just around the corner.

I'm on hormones and I still get symptoms but were far worst before the hormones. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi Cathy,

Sorry I didn't see your post sooner but my mom is quite ill and I haven't been on much lately.
My arm also seemed better and then flared up again. Since wearing the elbow brace again it has subsided quite a bit.
I bought it at a Shoppers Home Health Care store, the ones that carry items for the infirm. The other Shoppers don't have them. I was told that Dell IDA also carries this brand. Hope this helps and I hope your arm feels better. I think you may be on to something though as my arm never bothered me until I entered peri. Take care. Arla

Thanks Arla for the info. I'll check out Shoppers Home Health and give the brace a try. I am so sorry to hear that your Mom is ill. I will keep you both in my prayers and thoughts.

i also have gotten that pain from shoulder to wrist from time to time. But my bed is a little too hard and I find myself sleeping on that arm a lot. So I just figured that's why I get it. dry.gif

I had to bring this old thread back up as I once again am having arm pain ohmy.gif It never really went away completely but was down to a dull aching every now and then. Now its back. A few days before xmas it started along with a new symptom...everytime I bent my arm I got an "electric shock" feeling from my elbow to my pinky finger. That has gone away now but still very sore. Dr wants a EMG done. I have heard that this is a painful test so I'm quite nervous about having it done.
Any of you ladies still going through this arm pain after all this time like I am????

Hey there,
Did your GYN say why it happens at all? Did she suggest anything to you? I've been suffering for 6 months with pain in my left shoulder blade but, like you, I'm frustrated that I'm not being heard so I keep on suffering and taking pain killers which I know are not good for me. Why is pain on the left side so common in peri women? Any one know? Can you tell me?

Hi Cathy,

For 2 years now I have the same thing in my left arm including the electric shock feeling (only lasted for one day).
Despite the pain I try to exercise regulary. I have no lost of strength and low exercising does not worsen the problem.
I do not intend to go to the doctor as I have an history of many very stressful doctor visits and tests without any result.
Hope you will feel better soon!

I can tell you from experiance that an EMG is painfully..not to scare you basically they stick pins in your arm every so often apart and do sorta like electric shock to see if you have any damaged nerves or deaden muscle mass....I've had that and a nerve conduction test..the nerve conduction test if basically the same thing except needles the put clips on your fingertips and patches up and down your arm like they do when you have a EKG.....then they do the same thing..turn on a machine that sends shock waves to see how your muscles respond..it caused mine to tense up and left me sore the next day but told them i had no damage...my problem is i have 3 buldging disks in my neck with severe nerve compression on my left side,it causes pain, tingling and sometimes burning sensations down my arm into my two smaller fingers. and in my shoulder blade in the back..sometimes even in the left chest muscle...the muscle in my upper arm feels at time like it has knots in it and at times i even have face pain or tingling.......low exercising does help and also a heating pad and ice..depending on how bad it is..i've also noticed depending on what i do during the day or how stressed i get as to how it worsens..hot epsom salts bath also help..also try taking something for inflammation such as advil or aleive..I've had to go as far as get a script for tordal but can't take it all the time because like any inflamatioon meds they can cause stomach problems..after going for all these tests that i really couldn't afford my family doctor found out about the buldging disks...i refuse to have back sugery! not unless it comes to a last option...magneisiam is a natural muscle relaxer also...i hope you find out what's going on but i would start with a MRI befoore doing all the other..75% of most tingling in the arms does come from the spine..good luck

I'm sorry your going through the same thing! 2 years is a long time to be in pain. I certainly understand the stressful Dr's visits. I put off going as long as I can myself. Thanks for your reply. I hope you find some relief soon!

Thank you for all the info! I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me about your experience and your honesty about the EMG being painful. I would rather know ahead of time then be surprised once there ( I think LOL) Not sure if a nerve conduction test will be done at same time. I've read they are usually done together but wasn't told about it if it is planned. I am already booked at the hospital on Jan 31st so I guess I will go through with. If nothing comes from those results I def will be asking for a MRI~although it will takes months and months to get one of those around here~probably why Dr suggested the EMG first. I am taking a perscribed anti inflammatory that is helping a bit. I have a brother who has had disc problems for years so I know from him just how painful they can be. I am so sorry you are going through that. Don't blame you in the least about avoiding spine surgery! Take care and again thanks!

Hi Cathy,
I'm sorry to hear that you're still suffering with this same problem. My arm hasn't bothered me for awhile but it does flare up now and again even after all of this time. I have had the electric shock feeling right down to my hand quite a few times but mainly if my elbow comes into contact with anything even lightly.
I have been diagnosed with tennis elbow as I think I've told you but I think if mine comes back again I'll also look into more thoroughly.
My daughter had these tests done (including the nerve conduction test) on her leg. She didn't find them particularly painful while being done but her leg was a bit sore the next day.
I really hope they can find a resolution for you Cathy because I know how constant pain can wear you down.
I know what you mean about the MRI. It took me so long to get one (9 months) that I now have permanent nerve damage down one leg from a herniated disc in my spine.
Good luck with your test and let us know how you make out.
Arla.

Thanks Arla! I'm glad yours is doing better. Mine was doing ok for awhile...just some aches off and on until just before Xmas. I too was dx as having tendonitis of the elbow ( tennis elbow)round the same time as you were. Never had the electric shock sensation before though. It was new and scary to me ohmy.gif I'm glad your daughter found the testing not too bad. Hope everything is fine with her leg now. Thanks for responding Arla and I hope your arm continues to improve.

OMG! I've only registered on this site today and I've already posted everywhere! I've had these weird arm pains, in both arms, from shoulder to elbow. My arms ache like I've lifted hay bales all day! It is an ache that feels like it's in my bones! It only lasts for a couple of days but it is really disturbing! Peri stinks is all I can say!
arla
Cathy,
I was just wondering how you made out with your test for your arm.
I hope you're feeling better.
Arla.

Hi Cathy,

How is your arm? Did you have the EMG done?
I hope you are ok!
