Ladies.....have any of you noticed that if you consume too much salt or sugar that you tend to have more muscle, joint and body aches? I'm trying to just put two and two together and see if consuming them have a connection with how incredibly achy I am today as I have had major cravings for these the past few days. ( And of course gave in!!). It seems I'm always trying to find a cause for everything I feel. Just call me Per Super Sleuth! Anyway, what do you think?

Ajay, I find that when I eat even a little bit of salt, I become bloated, and I suffer body aches. I do not think it is coincidental. I am trying my best to stay away from all processed foods; even cookies and cereal are loaded with sodium! I can always tell when I have ingested too much salt: I don't pee proportional to what I drink, and my face looks like that of a chipmunk. dry.gif

Oh this is just getting to be more and more fun.

Hey there!!
What you said made so much sense. So, if this makes sense, if we eat too much salt and get bloated (that's me at the moment) the extra fluid we retain might have an adverse effect on our muscles, joints etc...not to mention the salt would act as a dehydrant and dry out our tissues etc causing even more problems? Or...am I just pulling at straws to make myself feel better that this is not old age, this is not old age...THIS IS NOT OLD AGE!!!!!! unsure.gif Oh man, the salty foods tasted sooo good going in, when will I ever learn?

Yep...getting "funner" and "funner"!!! tongue.gif

Hi Ajay,
I stick to a low salt diet because of Meniere's and also consume low sugar and still have joint and muscle aches. This has become worse since I stopped BHRT a couple of months ago. I take fish oil, evening primrose oil, magnesium and a good quality multi & B complex. I think there are more factors involved, so don't beat yourself up about the sugar and salt. But of course everything in moderation and restrictions apply depending on your medical profile, as they are known to aggravate certain conditions like BP and Diabetes etc.!

You're so right. So weird how everything affects us differently now that we're at this "age". Thanks for the insight. I didn't realize salt affects Meniere's! My mom has that...I wonder if she knows? I'll mention it to her. Thanks!
