Hi all.Over the weekend I had a lovely(sarcasm)two day dull migraine with right eye pain.I toughed it out,as it was the end of my period and I knew relief would come as soon as I took my first BCP pill sunday night.well sure enough maybe an hour after taking the pill I started feeling better and the headache began to fade. However I am now just plain tired, blah!yesterday I had to take a morning nap.Today i am still in my robe and slippers,I am ususlly going by 7:30.I need to run some errands but I just have not worked up the motivation to go.I know that migraines can leave you tired afterwards, but I also think part of this blah is just from the peri.I just hope I start feeling better as my house looks like it has been ignored for several days.Do you all think this is peri,or after effects of the migraine?Any advice on how to get moving,or should I listen to my body and just try to rest?I feel so guilty when my house is dirty and I am just sitting around.GOD-bless

Good morning, Lady E......I am so sorry you aren't feeling well. Migraines tend to zap me for a couple days after, too. I think this is a combination of peri and migraine, to be honest. Our ole bodies can't handle the migraines and such as well as we use to. I say you should just listen to your body and rest when you can today. I'll bet by tomorrow you'll feel better and then you can tackle the house if you feel up to it. We put too much guilt on ourselves to keep doing things we need to do,or THINK we need to do at this very moment. Now is a time to take care of ourselves. Take care and feel better!

Sadly I am only 32! I never thought this would be happening to me at this age-but my mother stopped her periods completely in her early 40's.Reproductive issues run on both sides of my family.I hate that I feel 50 sometimes -but then I have good days too.I should not complain so much.Thansk for the caring reply-i am trying to just not look at the messy, and trying to rest.Have a great day and GOD-bless

Just rest and don't feel guilty. As I mentioned honey was fully Menopausal at 39 and nearly had a nervous breakdown.Started the HRT and AD and Zanax as needed.I remember the blah days and took rest as needed.

Am now 57,feel a lot better but occassionally if I don't feel well or am very anxious ignore the mess until I feel better. So be easy on yourself.Housework is never ending and no-one will remember us for our housekeeping skills.

Hope you feel better soon.
God Bless

LadyE,

My DH and I both have migraines - mine seem to be more few and far between now (knock on wood). I think they're hormonal. I'm thinking our 11yo son has them because he will occasionally get a headache/nausea and is relieved by lying in a dark room and also feels better after he throws up - I think that is a classic migraine.

Anyway, my point is.....I asked the pediatrician and she told me that it takes TWO WEEKS for a migraine to get totally out of your system, so that would explain why you feel the way you do.

Hope you are feeling better - just rest. All that housework, etc., will (unfortunately) still be there when you are feeling better!

Lady E,

Sorry you had the migraine, they are the worst!! I have to agree with the others and listen to your body. If you feel up to it you could just do a couple of little things to help make the guilt go away, but nothing strenuous!! My grandmother had this saying....make the beds, clean the kitchen and the rest will take care of itself. While this isn't "entirely" true, a tidy kitchen and made beds really does make the house "feel" tidy!! But if you aren't up to it, the let it go. One thing about housework, it will wait for you.

I have a pretty active life, I am on the go a lot, I agressively clean house often....but when my body is tired, I listen and become a lump!! It always passes in a day or two and I get right back out there. If I don't listen and rest, I can feel horrible for DAYS!! You are young for peri, and that is unfortunate, but perhaps it means you will come out the other end earlier and will have many years of menopausal zest!!

Take care of yourself.

Lady E: I used to have a bumper sticker that read "Dull women have immaculate homes." My house is always picked up (ie no dirty dishes on the counter tops) but if you look in the corners, I have dust bunnies that are the size of small goats.

Migraines are incredibly draining. My mother, myself and my DD all get them. DD has the worst time...she loses 2 days from one migrain; the day OF and the day AFTER...and she is a healthy, active 20 year old woman. I agree with the other ladies...rest, and to heck with the house....

Hi LadyE:

Yep, let it go!!! I experience migraines and so do both of my children. It is really fun around here when we all are having one, thank goodness that is a rare occassion tongue.gif These always leave me drained for a day or two after plus peri, ugh, it gets tough.

Take it easy and be good to you!!! The house and the mess will be there tomorrow.

Hugs to you and hope that you are feeling better.
