So Ladies, I think I just may have skipped my 1st period. I am at day 34, ( I am a firm 28 dayer after a year of shorter cycles) had a spot of something 2 days ago, no bloating, no painful breasts, no unusual hunger cravings, no migrane, nothing.
In short, I feel 100% fine. I have flown 2 seperate times cross the Atlantic in the last 5 weeks but that never disturbed my cycle before.
I did however have *unprotected sex* at day 21 of my cycle.....can't imagine in any way that I was even close to ovulation and certainly do not feel in the least bit preg. but did a test 2 days ago befpre the spot and it was neg. of course.
Have you missed a period while feeling fine? Can any of you share your experience with it?
Thanks.....Girlsmom

Hi Girlsmom --

Congrats (I guess unsure.gif ) on your first missed period. I've had three misses over the past two years and felt perfectly fine all three times. As a matter of fact, I think I felt better than normal. Or maybe that was just a high from actually missing a period and enjoying the possibility of the complete end to them coming someday soon! On the other hand, I've gone 34-35 days (regular 26 days) without my period starting, but have had slight stomach discomfort to the point that I've taken ibuprofin just because I was afraid cramps were about to start, then my period would start with no notice at all! Peri is a very strange time!

I hate to burst your bubble, but a menstrual period is considered late if it is 5 or more days overdue according to your usual pattern of periods. A period is considered missed if there is no menstrual flow for 6 or more weeks (42 days). Your well on your way but not yet "missed" IMO.

Hi girlsmom,

I know it's really strange the first time you *skip* a period. I was shocked the first time I skipped. For some women, the end comes suddenly and no more periods....done! But, for the rest of us, it can be an unchartable course. I've had a VERY strange time with it. I've had 4 months with no period, then 3 straight months with a period, then skip 8 months and then another period....on and on I go!!!!

Sometimes I feel great and other times I feel awful, it's just complicated to say the least. I guess it's good that we can all share these things and help each other to not feel alone and wondering if we are normal.

Who knows what next month will bring! blink.gif blink.gif

Take care, Juliann

When I started missing periods, they just started coming once every 3 months...like clockwork. This went on for 2 years....and then they just stopped. I knew I would get a period cuz the hot flashes would stop. I can't say whether I felt better or worse though, I didn't journal symptoms, didn't know a lot of what I experienced even WAS peri related. I do know my libido tanked when the periods came farther apart. I didn't feel great during peri, no questions about that, but felt much much worse after my periods had stopped completely.

Funny how everyone is different.

Interesting because my last period was 2+ weeks late, I think I counted like 45 days from the last.....longest I have ever went , but I had no idea I had missed one...I just figured it was really late. Boy I knew when it was coming though because pms hit hard.
I think you can feel fine....for me it seems the only time I get symptoms of all this peri stuff is before I bleed and if I ovulate. I figure maybe AI will be one whos periods are causing all the havoc. Even when I spotted for 5 weeks straight just a little bit everyday at the same time, just before that tiny spot I would get dizzy, palp's, tired ect... So could be one of those who feels great once they stop. Hugs Mikki

Is this ever a timely thread for me.

After "my ordeal" (which I have written about so much), I have finally missed 2 periods. I can't help but hope that, at 56, this is it for me. In August, I felt like I was getting a period, but nothing started. In September, I had no symptoms at all. I repeat that I do not want to be the oldest menstruating female on the planet!

Best to all,
Marcy

I've experienced both. No symptoms and the good old phantom periods (symptoms, but no actual flow). It's been over a year since I had my last period and for the most part, I've been feeling pretty good.

It is odd when you first skip a period. I did mine last year. I went 100 days between periods and then I would get a period normally for a few months then skip one month. I am now 71 days since my last period. Even though I have felt pretty good, I have still gotten that bloating feeling and today I have a little anxiety so I am wondering if my period is going to come. I just never know anymore.

Don't worry marcy, my Mom stopped at 56. You will be done soon if not already. smile.gif

Still no period but I need some help. I, by the calender, would be around ovulation and I feel like crap. Could it be my hormones trying to find their balance? I am exhausted with stomach pain, feverish feeling although no fever. And to think just a few days ago I felt great as was so optimistic....any clue what is going on? sad.gif

Dear Marcy
And we certainly don't want you to be the oldest menstruating female on the planet.Check out Guiness Book of Records! There could be some name and fame there.

My Mum had her Menopause at 56 but did complain of bloating and cramps for about year after.I stopped fully at 39 and now at 57,believe it or not ocassionally get a bloated tummy and period like feeling.Very odd!

Anyway honey,I always read your posts written with humour and great intelligence after the real Hell you went through. So really pray that this is the end for you and that you will much better very soon

All the Best
Elizabeth

I never skipped a period until I was 39 years old...I mean never. That's how it all started for me. Skipped one here, one there. Went a year like clockwork, then started missing them. Then regular and HEAVY. Then they just went away...just like that. Both my mother and sister never had any symptoms. At 50, they both just stopped. Never a hot flash or any other symptoms. I'm 44, and just finished one year (or a bit longer...I didn' track that well), but have every symptom under the sun. Hope you are well.

Clueless Mary and all the others- Its so nice to see so many women sharing their experiences and helping out on this forum!!

I am 49 years and since last year my cycles came closer together (24 days )then one came at 44 days and then this year once 30 then 44 days and now nothing for 52 days.

I did go to 2 seperate gynaecs and they are inclined to immediately give tablets to induce a period if there are delays of over 40 days.
These tablets are dangerous for me as I have an old history of blood clots.

So what I am asking basically is how long do you sit waiting at home during the peri stage before going to the doctor? Especially those of you not taking HRT?
How often would you go if there were those 3 month long gaps etc?

Thanks
