XIII
Hello there ladies,

Just couldn't wait to bring you this news. Anyone who has been around here long enough will have seen my endless posts about hot flashes, night sweats and inability to control my body temperature. Quite frankly I was in disbelief at the severity of my symptoms. The temperature swings that I suffered made me prone to fainting every day and each morning I awoke in pools of sweat. One morning my tummy button was filled like a little lake! I had to eject the duvet every hour throughout the night and always woke up feeling dire. I had no relief for about 8 months and was afraid that I would never get any relief and that my life was ruined.

I am better. The severe temperature problems have gone. I did a spot of sunbathing at the week-end and once more it felt pleasurable. I have no doubt that I will continue to get the 'hots' occasionally but I am firmly back in control of my temperature. Did a 6 mile walk and a 10 mile bike ride at the week-end. The deep fatigue is receeding and my hair and skin are soft and more moisturised.

There is an end to all this. You just have to keep believing and you will get better!

But where's the magic pill to make this happen so we don't have to wait? :-)

Hi Sariah,
I have come to the conclusion that there is no magic pill. I get the feeling that it is just an awful tunnel and we ladies have to blunder through it alone. OK so that makes me mad but I hope that my experience will give hope to those who are in that horrible tunnel at the moment. Just to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel; helps with the understandable anxiety caused by feeling so dreadful. When I was at my worst, there were some days when I actually pondered death as an escape from all the discomfort. That seems silly now but it was very real at the time. I just kept thinking, 'how can I possibly live the rest of my life, feeling like this.' Thanks but no thanks!
Now my mind has returned to sensible thoughts like what can I achieve today. Much better!

Brilliant news XIII

So pleased for you as I know how despairing it can get.

Mine have slowed down to perhaps half a dozen a day, no longer waking me in the night and have a rare odd day when I have had no flashes at all.

So I hope to catch you up soon.

XIII, I am so happy for you!

Since I finally skipped 2 periods, my internal thermostat is worse than ever. I have kept the temp in the house at 68 all summer, and on many days, I still stick my head in the freezer to cool off.

Thanks for giving me hope. smile.gif

Warm regards,
Marcy

Hey XIII where are you? Are you out enjoying a bike ride, walk? Hope so. I've been flushing less and sleeping better too recently and boy does it help the mood and energy levels. I have visions of you zipping around Robin Hood Country on your bike. biggrin.gif

Went to Wells Next the Sea in Norfolk on a photography trip at the week-end! What a lovely relaxing place. I do like to cycle around Clumber Park and Rutland water.

PS I have never had a hot flash on my bike..........Perhaps it is the answer to all our problems! Lol! biggrin.gif Mind you, if I met up with Kevin Costner dressed as Robin Hood in Sherwood forest I think that I would have a major hot flash! wink.gif Just daydreaming......................... smile.gif

That's it, biking is the answer biggrin.gif Keep daydreaming tongue.gif

Wells Next The Sea is relaxing I've been there myself. The beach is great. Lovely for walking and blowing the cobwebs away as whenever I've been there is has been windy.
