I've had a terrible time with neck & jaw stiffness, facial pain, and a bandlike headache over my eye for years now (along with every other meno symptom possible). I just found a great article explaining and giving meaning to tension headaches and their relation to menopause and some suggestions for dealing with them on CNN health library. Just google or search CNN health library tension headaches. Really a good read and a form of relief to me that I am now going crazy !!!

springsjean....we need to talk. I've had a similar headache that you've had for 2 1/2 years. Mine is daily...it got better...just felt some tightness but it's back with a vengance this past week. What were you told? What tests did you have? Has yours ever gone away? Have you tried hormone treatment? I feel like I'm wearing a tight cap on my head.
Hugs,
Karen

Weird. My whole meno nightmare started with major dental work so when my jaw gets tight, I don't know whether to attribute it to the new plate, meno, anxiety, adrenals, etc. However, it always comes on with tight neck muscles and band around the head which in turn leads to anxiety which leads to insomnia. It's a vicious cycle for me. I've tried everything but this articles seems to give me more reason to believe in myself that I am not crazy but it is hormonal. I refuse to give in and live like this. I will find out how to get rid of it.
