Hi girls,

there is something that is really bothering me! I've noticed, on the web, there are MANY more sites, dealing with skin changes (whether it be increase in moles, freckles, skin tags, whatever....) during pregnancy, THAN DURING PERI! WHY IS THAT? Now, this was brought to my attention lately, because i seem to have recently noticed a new mole or skin tag on the upper inside part of my left arm .... i think i've posted that here already. But, during all the countless hours of scouring the internet for info. as to how hormones affect skin changes, such as moles and skin tags, all I ever get are sites referring to moles and skin tags DURING PREGNANCY! I mean to tell you, I've typed it in to google all different ways, and honestly, you have to really really really be diligent, and not give up, to find ANY info. out there, that peri, (due to hormonal changes, JUST LIKE DURING PREGNANCY....HELLO?????!!) can and does cause moles, skin tags, darkening of the skin, whatever....

To ME, what's the difference here? Obviously, during pregnancy, the hormonal changes are severe, well, DUH....what about peri?!!!!! SAME THING! and yet, you cannot believe the LACK of info. out there as to THIS symptom of peri! I was so ticked off about this, and my husb. and I were discussing this, and I asked him why HE thought that there are hardly any sites that mention that as one of the MANY symptoms of peri.....and he said, "well, that's exactly why...it's peri, and haven't you been telling me all along honey, that there's hardly any info. out there about peri as it is?" .....TA DA!!!! HE'S RIGHT! yeah, ok, I guess I had already realized that myself, but I wanted to bounce it off him, just simply as anohter adult, to see if perhaps, I was missing something, because I coudlnt' believe, that, that particular symptom is SO LEFT OUT! Now, you'll find many sites that mention the TYPICAL skin changes.....such as dryness, or drooping face, or maybe rougher skin.......but you will hardly find a site that will DARE to mention an increase in moles, and freckles as yet another symptom of peri! But like I stated earlier, the internet is loaded with that type of info. for pregnancy! WHAT THE HECK? I know for myself, that in the last few years, i've developed two either moles or skin tags on both elbows, one of them being the latest one i just discovered a month ago......the other on the other elbow has been there a few yrs now.
Now, if I coud've gotten on the internet, looked up perimenopausal symptoms, and found that moles and freckles DO increase during peri.......geez, i wouldn't have been so frantic! BUT NO....for some unknown reason, it is totally neglected.
So, you're left to put two and two together, and realize that if it happens during preg......then, obviously, peri is no different!
I am thankful to have found friends here, who have shared with me that either they themselves, or their mothers (when they were going through peri) ALSO developed moles and such! THANK GOD! Because otherwise, you're left in the dark!
I wish I knew the reason for this ... but again, I think my husb. is right ..... it's got to do with the overall lack of info. about peri.......period. WHAT ELSE WOULD BE THE REASON? I think the other reason, is simply fear.....because people fear that during peri, WHATEVER SYMPTOM WE GET COULD be something else, much more serious! So, naturally, everyone fears some kind of skin cancer then! Geez! If only there was more knowledge on this subject, i've read about the typical peri skin changes over and over until I feel like puking .... but VERY little on moles, freckles, and really, ANY other skin changes, OTHER THAN THE TYPICAL ones!

Well, I'm here to say, that apparently, if it's happening to ME, and to some women here, who've been kind enough to share their experiences with me (as well as their mothers), then, it's got to be happening to many more women than we think ..... and unfortunatley, they ALSO must be fretting that it's something so much more serious, than hormonal!!!!!!!

thanks for listening ladies......I just needed to vent!!!! Hey, any info. would be appreciated!

MyDarling:

I am getting more skin tags too. I had a couple come up when pregnant with my son a long time ago but have noticed the little white things you are talking about below my eyes! All I can say is what's next! Maybe I should keep that question to myself biggrin.gif

I believe it is because up until recently menopause was a silent epidemic.Women were expected to suffer silently, and those who could not often ended up on a little vacation at a mental facility! We as women are now responsible to be open and willing to discuss and share our peri and meno symptoms, that way women do not have to suffer silently-or alone.GOD-bless

I don't know, but I decided I wasn't going to take it anymore and had four moles removed (2 last week on the neck) and today two that sprouted on my face. I hate facial moles and am pretty dang happy to be sporting two stylish bandaids. laugh.gif

How much did it cost if you do not mind me asking?

Don't mind at all, but I'll have to do a bit of scouting to see if I can find out how much it cost. Hubby just changed jobs and the insurance we have now, picks up everything at 100%. Even if we had to pay for a portion, I think it is well worth the expense. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. wink.gif

hi all ....

thank you for replying! yes I am going to have it removed, DON'T WORRY! UGH! this is to much! it's not in a place that is easily seen, but still, it causes me to much worry! so, off it goes! I agree, we have been made to suffer in silence, and those who couldn't do it, well, sort of fell by the wayside (yes, taking nice little "vacations" in some mental facitlity!)
It's really to bad. How many women have suffered and been in fear, during this time. And still TODAY, there really isn't to much info .out there......which is why i posted that. This mole is still here, and I'm getting rid of it!

ok, thanks ladies, i need the support!
