Full Version: Feel like I am losing it
Power Surge Forums > Board Discussions > Am I Starting Perimenopause?

Hi everyone,

I am new here and experiencing changes that I think are peri but have not been checked out yet. I have insomnia - on sleeping pills, gained weight around my abdomen - wrote that off to a great summer, and can be laughing one minute and balling my eyes out the next. I am 44, just sent my oldest off to University so I thought I was depressed because of that, but I really don't think so as we talk all the time and are less than an hour away.

I was ready to "run away" on the weekend and I know my mood swings are concerning my hubby - I really try my hardest to "appear" with it , in front of my 15 year old, but he must know something is off. I toss and turn even with sleeping pills and covers on then off I feel like I am losing my mind. I am snapping at ppl at work and one day I feel like I will quit on the spot.

Hi Maggie,

Welcome. There is a wealth of information on this site. And a wealth of women to help with this.
Education is the key. In the mainstream medical community, not all of this is spoken about. We truly
live the changes, but it's not necessarily understood. The women here understand.

Hope to hear from you again. Ask any question and someone will try to help.

Hi 'maggie'

Sounds like you are peri.I was fully Menopausal at 39 so do appreciate what you are going through No,you are not losing your mind-though it sure often feels that way!

There is no need to hide the way you are feeling from your husband.Tell hi frankly how you feel. Then make an appointment with Gynn. preferably between forty to fifty so she will hopefully understand what you are experiencing..There are plenty of fantastic natural supplements and vitamins to help. Also with 'insomnia' sleeping pill effect can often wear off but there are some new more sophisticated products,by Prescription, which can tide you over because after a good nights sleep one can at least think more clearly

Lastly,my dear you have come to the best place for suppoert, compassion and lots of wonderful tips and information from a group of sensation ladies.

Please continue to Post and keep us updated !We will stand by and support you
God Bless You

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I was so excited to have found this site and shared the information with my hubby who is ready to support me through this ride.

Knowledge is key and to learn from this group of wonderful women will truly help me. My mom passed when I was 21, 23 years ago, I miss her terribly all the time, but it really hits hard at times like this.

Thanks again,

Elizabeth,
I just posted a long post to you to ask questions and I think I posted wrong. Anyway, will try again. I am new to
this board also. I have been taking AD for 10 years because of depression and anxiety which of course have gotten alot
worse since peri. I have read on here that you added hormones to the AD and it worked well for you. I am afraid to go
on estrogen and progesterone together because I have read that progesterone increases depression and I sure don't
need that. They say gyn won't give just estrogen if you still have a uterus. Any advice you can give would be deeply
appreciated. Eaglegirl
