I had lap surgery to remove an ovary that had scar tissue on it back in dec. since then , maybe about six weeks after surgery,I was feeling fatigued all the time and just not right, it got better and then about a month ago I noticed that its been about 6 weeks and I have not had any bloating or sore breasts, Ihave constant muscle aches, fuzzy headed, my question is am I still ovulating? I had a partial hysterectomy with the birth of my last son back in 2000, Iam now 46, My gyno did an ultraasound and said the remaining ovary had a cyst but everything is fine,my hormones she said are consistantI with perimenopause, I just am so cofused that I have not had symptoms of a period,Obviously because of the hysto I cannot actually tell because I have no period! what could possibly be happening that hormonally could be causing this. I feel like I am in full menopause but my blood tests did not show this. Anyone have any input on this?

cari: The only way to tell if you are ovulating is to look at your FSH and LH levels. FSH is a hormone produced by your pituitary gland that sends a message to the ovaries to release an egg. If your ovary doesn't, the brain sends out another message (and the FSH goes higher)...still no egg, more mesages, and again, and again. If your ovaries simply don't respond, the FSH level will be very high--

I'd guess that you are probably ovulating some of the time. I haven't had a period in 18 months, and I don't think I ovulate at all anymore. I'm one of those weird people who could always tell when I was becasue I would ge mid-cycle pain. I could even from which side I was releasing an egg.

I wish I had better answers for you. I'm your age and stopped menstruating over a year and half ago. None of my symptoms have gone away; in fact they have worsened. Try to hang in there...there's got to be a light at the end of the tunnel eventually!!

No expert here but I had an ovary removed a couple of years ago, benign cyst, and had already lost part of another. They say it doesn't affect your menopause, but I can't see how it can't if that is related to the number of eggs you have. I am only 43 and feeling symptoms of perimenopause - hot flashes at night and palpitations.
We know our own bodies and I think you can tell when something is off. You may not be ovulating all the time. I missed a couple of periods last year then they started up again. My symptoms seem to change all the time. Lots of support and info here. Good luck :-)
