I have read that testosterone can calm down anxiety. Is this true? But I've read it could stimulate which to me would increase anxiety. sad.gif
I was just prescribed 2mg a day in my compound cream along with progesterone and bi-est. Does 2mg a day sound too high??
My blood work came back VERY low in testosterone. I have had NO libido in years, my skin is very dry and hair is dry. Most days I'm tired but overall I'm ok in that department.
Thanks....

Hi Darby,

I just started BHRT 3 months ago. I first used a compounded capsule with E/P/T. My testosterone free level came back -0.something and my normal level was 18 so I got 5 mg total for the day of testosterone. I also had no libido in years too but that started to get worse after I lost an ovary. Also relationship issues worsen the libido too. But I'm hoping the testosterone may help. I thought 5 mg was too much but I was told my Dr. Warner on this site, my own doctor and the pharmacist that 5 mg was not that high. I haven't noticed any side effects and I switched to a cream on my second month (last month). I also have very dry skin, hair, scalp and nails and muscle aches, but I know the thyroid is also involved with those symptoms so I just had blood drawn to check that too.

But 2 mg for the day seems very low so I wouldn't worry as I was told 5 mg for me was fine. If you don't notice any good effects you can increase a little to see how that goes. If you get acne, irritability, aggressiveness and your hair starts to fall out, then its too much and you have to stop entirely.

I also read you need estrogen to help the testosterone so I'm also taking estrogen.

Feel well

thanks for the info. I just had a blood test taken for thyroid and adrenals too. My results will be back in a week or so.
