Wow, the other night I became out of the blue extremely dizzy the whole room was spinning even when I shut my eyes. I had it for several hours and finally fell a sleep. When I woke up in the morning I got my period. I am thinking that the dizziness is probably just another symptom of periomenopause. A few years ago I would of went to the doctor for sure. Has anyone else ever had anything like this just before a period ? I am thinking maybe it is from a drop in hormones. I also got nausea with the dizziness. Help ? I need feedback. Cathy

I use to experience the dizziness prior to my period starting. Well, it was more like feeling lightheaded.

I sometimes get dizzy or feel off balance or light headed right before my period. When it gets really bad, I take Dramamine. That seems to help.

I experience the same thing. It's awful. I also get nausea. Sometimes it becomes a feeling of vertigo and I have to lie down. I've been having these symptoms for four years!

Around perimenopause time at 46yrs I had my first vertigo attack with room spinning , nausea and vomiting. I was eventually diagnosed with meniere's disease. Several years before that I sometimes had vague feelings of dizziness, lightheaded or slightly off balance feelings. The other symptom was a blocked feeling in my ear sometimes (fluctuating deafness). It's interesting how around peri time a lot of strange symptoms develop. I've noticed a lot of ladies on this forum develop dizziness around this time but it is not to say that they have Meniere's or will develop it, there can be lots of other reasons for dizziness. This was just my experience and I think it's important to know what to look out for because several Doctors missed it before I was eventually diagnosed. I'm 54 now and controlling it a lot better. It's just all the other 30 odd symptoms of menopause I'm learning to deal with at the moment! My Dr. prescribed magnesium orotate, evening primose oil, zinc and a Multi +Vit B complex. The magnesium specifically is supposed to help with my dizzies.

Dizzyness is one of my newest symptoms. The week before my period I experience what feels like a shifting of my horizon. No room spinning, just a sense that everything is at a tilt.I hate it.After my period was over it went away.guess it is another one of those things we have to march through.GOD-bless

I had the dizzies for years. At first they came occasionally, then happened more and more often. When periods stopped it was ALL THE TIME. Horrible!! I am on BHRT & Paxil and only feel dizzy if I am extremely tired.
