I have been using products, that are actually for hormonally aging skin. I have been using them for 2-3 months. They have helped me with my breakouts, and I definitely do not have dry skin anymore, and less wrinkles..actually, these products make you skin so soft. I still have bags, but I am hoping in time, these products will help to diminish those too..I don't think I can paste the website here, but the products are by Murad. If you do a search on the internet, I am sure you will be able to find their site. The best product of all, I think, is their hydrating toner, which you would find under the hormonally aging products. the hydrating toner works best, if you are someone that deals with breakouts. I tend to get cystic acne, ever since this meno, and it you use this product, twice a day, i noticed that it zaps out the cysts in a matter of 3-4 days, otherwise, you normally can deal with these types of cystic blemishes, 1-2 months. they have tendacies of just hanging around. well, good luck, ladies, in trying to look your best. It can become very difficult during this time.
Hugs,

I have seen the Murad line at Sephora and at the higher end department stores. A bit pricey but a little goes a long way. I haven't used it exclusively because of the price. I have been using Avon's Anew products and have been pretty happy with it. However I have been blessed through good genes to have great skin. It definately does not show it's age - but the rest of me does!!! rolleyes.gif

Lately I have found that I have had to go very simple, and forget about getting into all the so-called "anti-aging" products out there, as my skin simply will not accept stuff with dangerous chemicals on my face. No, I don't have rosacea, or poor health, but just sensitive skin. But one thing that has contributed to this is that I have shifted over to a largely raw food lifestyle. Just as our bodies don't really want processed c*** in them, they really don't want all the processed skincare stuff either. Oatmeal, honey, apple cider vinegar, shea butter, extra-virgin coconut oil, extra-virgin olive and jojoba oils are my best friends now and so versatile. No, one won't look like the ads from using these, but those ads are Photoshopped to death anyway, not a representation of true, real life beauty.

My upgrade plan for the fall includes focusing on cleaning up my diet, better stress management, taking inventory of what products I have on hand and purchasing a few new ones that I have been feening for..

(A mouth full, I know.... ohmy.gif )

In the past, Prescriptives, Philosophy have served my needs well, so I may look into whats new in there anti-aging/acne lines. My newest find is a line called skinceuticals. I've certainly heard of them before now, but had a regimen that was working...

Presently, my skin looks dull, no matter the exfoliation. I'm experiencing breakouts around my chin, and generally more oily(yikes)...Not to mention the occasional puffy eyes, which are completely NEW to me... I absolutely hate that new gift of meno....I feel it ages me horribly, even moreso than wrinkling..

So ladies, please tell me what products you are having success with ....

I'm also considering purchasing that skin care brush by sonicare... cant think of the name right this minute... dry.gif

Murad has a great line of products, as does Philosophy. I've used Prescriptives' line for make-up for over a decade but have been thinking of switching back to Estee Lauder...time for a change.
For those under eye bags you might try want to try Fastscription De-Puff eye gel by Patricia Wexler, MD...it works within minutes of applying!

thank you, NiteOwl

I've seen the Wexler products in BB. Works within minutes, huh? I'll be buying it on my next mall excursion.

Thanks again.......

I have one word ladies...

PREVAGE!

You can get it at the Elizabeth Arden counter....it is AMAZING.

I got a gift certificate for a facial at the Elizabeth Arden Red Door and had a Prevage facial. For a week afterward, people I knew would stop me and tell me my skin looked fantastic. Because the product is expensive, I didn't buy any.

A couple of months later I ran out of the products I have been using for years....I bit the bullet and bought the Elizabeth Arden products (before that I have been using a botanical product from France, very pure, yadda yadda)-- I cannot tell you how wonderful my skin looks and feels, and how many people comment on it.

Anyway-- if you can swing it, try it...I use the Prevage 2 x a day, and I use the Elizabeth ARden Ceramide eye and moisturizer. LOVE IT

I use Renova, it is Rx only...it is retinA for older skin, it actually regenerates your skin. It is wonderful! I get the rx from my derm. I also use an Alpha Hydroxy gel every other night, alternate with the Renova. Love both those products!

I too, have to keep it simple. I tried Prevage twice and got horrific hives on my face. Ended up at ER both times. And I have never been allergic to a facial product before.

I just use olive oil right now. I don't really believe those expensice creams do anything for people. I've never seen anyone else's skin or mine "youthened" by them. Or even look noticeably better. But then, I don't study people's appearances. I notice the positive and when someone cares about their appearance, that shows.

But olive oil and emu are very nice. And what you eat and drink is really important, too.

I just saw an infomercial the other day for the Murad line. While I agree with the doctor that the drop in hormones accelerates the aging process, I find it interesting that there are no hormones in the products, just the usual stuff we find in other - cheaper! - drugstore products.

If you really think you are suffering from hormonal aging, then use hormones. :-)

Since you brought up the idea of hormones and skin, I have a question. If a teenager, or tween in this case, who has just started her menses and is beginning to get pimples, it's obviously hormonal related, correct? Why then do all the products for pimples talk about removing oil and salyic acid? I just don't see how these products can help. Am I missing something? (It's been awhile since I was a tween biggrin.gif )

It is my understanding that removing the oil causes the face to want to produce more oil which in turn makes more break outs. Arbonne has an excellent line for teens that my boys use.
