So I was put on a new pill and I did not feel it was doing anything so I called the Doctors office. She said that I needed to use it for three months to really notice how I would be feeling and that it has a pogesterone that helps with cholesterol levels. My progesterone is very very high. I investigated today on the internet and it says that cholesterol makes progesterone and progesterone makes high cholesterol. That makes sense. My cholesterol is high. So it would seen that they need to get both of these down to help my hormones out. Has anyone else taken this pill?? Lo Ovral?

The BCP will make your body stop producing its own hormones, and replace them with what is in the pill.So if progesterone causes high cholesterol it will probably help.Hope so!!GOD-bless

I'm not finding any info that progesterone causes high cholesterol or that progestins decrease cholesterol. I did find one study that says there is no correlation at all between progesterone and cholesterol, at least in menopausal women (they were the only ones who participated in the study).
There IS an established link between estrogen and cholesterol, estrogen decreases LDL and increases HDL. Apparently this is true of synthetic estrogens as well as estradiol.
