I just wanted to let you know what I found out that works for my headaches: Black Cohosh. I just started going through perimenopause about 9 months ago and these I call them "Hormonal" headaches came out of the blue one month. They were nasty and nothing relieved them.
After doing some research, I settled on Black Cohosh. It also has many other benefits (stablizing moods, etc.) I figured out that my headaches were d/t estrogen deficiency and black cohosh mimics estrogen activity. It took about a month but my horrendous headaches went down from going straight for 7 days around/during my period to maybe 2 days and the same around my ovulation time.
I plan on taking this herb for awhile as I couldn't live with those nasty headaches but black cohosh really helped me, not only with my headaches but with anxiety, my moods, etc.
Just wanted to share.

Argh........my head is killing me. I've had this headache for two days and I am on my period. I'm not sure about the black cohosh. I'm on Zoloft and I hesitate to take anything that has mood implications. I'm thinking about trying Excedrin Migraine. I took regular Excedrin and Advil yesterday, but nothing helped. I was nauseous with the headache, too. I'm not really prone to migraines, so I guess this is a new wonderful side effect of perimenopause. My period finally arrived after 60 days so I'm sure that has something to do with it. I feel like crap. blink.gif
