I go in on September the 18th for a partial, removing the cervix and uterus only. Curious what will happen with my peri symptoms, since my ovaries will still be intact I will still cycle and still have those same old peri symptoms. At the moment I am using Yasmin BCP to control my symptoms, but my new Doctor does not like me being on them being a smoker (going to quit finally). So my fears are coming off the BCP's and feeling like poo. So if anyone has any suggestions on peri after a hyster please give me some thoughts. I am thinking maybe I should go with a natural progestin.

I had a partial hyst. like you're going to have about 7 years ago. I didn't have any symtoms at all (that I was aware of). I didn't feel any different after the surgery than I felt before...except that I wasn't bleeding profusely any more. Yay! I wasn't having much in the way of peri symptoms then, but I don't think losing your uterus will have much effect on them one way or the other.

Best of luck with your surgery--you'll be fine! smile.gif

Thanks. I have read that 50 % of women who have the uterus and cervix removed have a chance within 5 years to go through surgical induced menopause. Not to mention the surgery can and typically does still cause an imbalance in hormones for a little while despite the ovaries still being in place. My fear is my hormones going even more wacky after the surgery and whether my meds will control it or not. More worried the doctor will take me off what works and put me on something that will make me suffer with horrible peri symptoms again! I felt so great for seven months and then this damn stuff happens. I worry about hormone imbalance more than I do the surgery!
