Good morning, Ladies!
We all have symptoms and body changes/issues that make us feel frumpy and so not like ourselves during this time in our lives. I'm just wondering what makes you feel feminine when dealing with the symptoms of peri/meno? What do you do for yourself that makes you feel prettier, feminine, happier? For me, I think a good haircut, putting on pretty makeup, and doing my nails does it for me. Along with wearing soft colors and fabrics and starting my day with prayer. How about you?

I have a few glasses of wine, and then I think I look pretty good.
It's hard for a tall, muscular woman with a not so pretty face to look feminine, though. If I put on too much make-up, and wear a sexy dress, I look like a drag queen! So I have to keep it simple if I don't want to be mistaken for a man. (Which happens more times than I care to tell you)

Armadillo, you have made my day!!!!!!!
I'm a lot like you, I don't have much anymore to work with. But I do like to do my nails, and the little hair that I have left on my head. (It's comming out fast!) As for clothes.......I love a good pair of comfortable jeans to show off my butt.

That's about all I have left worth looking at!!

Lifting weights makes me feel sexy. I think that's the only reason I do it. Other than that... a glass of wine works for me too. :-)

I guess after reading paula1954 and CarolH posts, I've come to a new realization.
Just because some of us can never really look feminine, it doesn't mean we can't FEEL sexy.
And I do enjoy having my toenails painted (I don't have fingernails, I bite them, bad habit!!). And I really do feel sexy at the gym, when I'm lifting, covered in sweat, and wearing my ratty gym gear. I'll always be a tomboy, I guess!

I feel feminine after scrubbing myself head to toe in a good hot shower, drying off, then putting on some of my favorite body splash, either "Sweet Pea" or "Cherry Blossom" from Bath & Body Works, then putting on clean clothes and smelling good all day.

You got me to thinking........ I only feel feminine when I get all dressed up. Since that's not too often, I feel happiest when I'm able to get down the beach early in the morning with a good cup of coffee, and walk the beach with my feet in the ocean. I just love it!

Yes, what's up with make-up, anyhow? It only looks good on young women. I can't get eyeliner on in a straight line anymore to save my life, and the more make-up I put on, the worse I look--another drag queen or an old sad clown! People come up to me and want my autograph, thinking I'm Burt Reynolds.

I have a hard time with eyeliner too! My eyes are just going bad.

I feel hot when my hair and nails are freshly done. I also feel good after I exercise and I have a healthy look to my skin.

Makeup has become more like "spackle" to me. Filling in the deep lines takes so much work I'm all pooped out before I'm done... I have to sit down or take a nap.
Pass the wine........

Armadillo and Sue -- you both made me laugh!

Indeed, pass the wine!
I feel sexy when I've been eating lightly, like lots of summer fruit, and the "mighty bloat" is gone... when I'm well rested and my face shows it... when I slip into some jeans and a sleeveless top -- my arms are pretty well toned... when I'm having a good hair day, and apply a little peachy colored lipstick... I don't wear eye or skin makeup anymore -- just a light facial moisturizer... If I'm lucky enough, my hubby notices and tells me I'm looking good -- then I really feel sexy! Ooh-la-la!

I like this thread...yes WINE and I find that a dim light also helps! Stay away from the department store mirrors! That lighting...whoa!
I like to try to keep my nails hands and feet painted in the summer...do I actually do it? Only when I am not to exhausted...which is most of the time...but I try...also new skirt and top...something a bit frilly but not to overdue....and of course dye the hair but most of all

Like CSugar, I like a little spritz of feminine-smelling spray. Can't do heavy perfumes, but there are some nice light variations out there.
I also have to be careful with makeup, for fear of looking like a transvestite. I think women like us have more potential to be "handsome" than pretty as we get older.
And yeah, add me to the "wine" group.

First of all, knowing that husband eyesight is as bad as mine helps a lot! It's really a blessing that our good vision fails us about the same time those fine lines, wrinkles, and gasp - whiskers appear.
I feel like a look my best when I'm well-rested and my skin looks good. I just started using Retin A and other products to treat freckles and other age/hormone-related discolorations. What a difference! My skin glows. NOW I feel feminine! A pretty little peasant blouse, capri pants, flirty sandals and a fresh pedicure help too. Ditto on the wine as well.

I could NEVER tell anyone what I can tell you ladies here ( my PS sista's)!
I'm probably the vainest of you all! Well, I can't really help it, I work in the beauty industry and for someone at my tender age ( 50 ikes), I still have to appear to look "with it". Of course I get my hair done regularly, colored and highlighted, nail, toes are always done. Make-up EVERYDAY, no matter what, even on my day's off, I don't leave the house without full face on! That's just me, it's always been that way.
I love perfume and lotions. I'm probably the high maintenance queen.
Here's another secret on my personal list. Last year, I decided to start "tanning". I know, I know!!!!! But, it's really true, I feel way sexy with a tan. I swear it makes me look younger, and leaner. I am a rather "fair skined" gal, so the look of a healthy glow is fab!!!! It's all in moderation, I don't burn myself into a raisen, just a healthy glow. I figure ( and this is how my crazy mind works), it's now or never. I feel better and that's what counts.
exfoliate, cleanse, tone and tweez my lovely wiskers daily!!!! At this age, it's huge to maintian!!!
Love to all, Juliann

I'm with you Juliann - altho in the last couple of years I eased off on the makeup. Somewhere along the way in my child and teenhood I got the impression that my looks were the only thing I had going for me

so I've always made sure to keep up to date with makeup, fashions, skin care, hairstyle etc. I wish now I would have gone into the beauty biz! I also love all potions and lotions etc. Altho I can't stick around too long at the beauty counters or Ulta due to allergies, but in small doses on myself I love it!! <sigh> I wish I paid half as much attention to my insides as I do the exterior! But I am learning

I can feel feminine just getting a manicure and a pedicure. But I really feel pretty when I get dressed up to go somewhere special with my husband, and he tells me I look pretty. And then we hold hands when we're walking into wherever we're going. I felt especially nice this March when I was dancing with my husband of 31 years at our daughter's wedding and he held me close and told me I looked pretty and that I did a great job with the wedding.
