I put myself back on a regimen of topical progesterone cream about 10 days ago (on the 14th day of cycle) and noticed a few changes in mood and anxiety levels. Both were affected in a negative way. But the most interesting side effect was with the condition of my gums. Within a week of being on this hormone, they became red, puffy and tender. Terrible breath ! It felt like my teeth were coming loose on the top ! All the classic signs of gingivitis - so I researched it on the web, and sure enough there is a correlation between excessive levels of progesterone and healthy gums. Lots of pregnant women have problems with gingivitis because of the high levels of progesterone.
Wow. It's like everything I do to try and alleviate some of these worrisome symptoms just backfires on me ! Has anyone else experienced this ??
