I wasn't aware that using biodentical progesterone could cause anxiety and depression. My obgyn thinks this may be the case. I've been on it about a year and it was working great alleviating my symptoms for many months until all of a sudden my periods became much heavier and I started getting more depression,anxiety and internal shaking and racing heart. I also recently went off prozac and just went back on because of these symptoms so it could be one of the two. I think it's most likely the progesterone because while I was previously on the prozac these symptoms weren't as severe. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Anyone else have trouble with progesterone cream?

Did your problems start before or after you stopped Prozac ?

I just saw a study on Pub Med that correlated depression with a decrease in estrogen and a concurrent increase in progesterone, possibly implying that it's the ratio of the two that can affect your mood. Perhaps your estrogen dipped ?

It's been off and on depression even before I went off the prozac then back on.
I was told my estrogen was low but they couldn't give me anything for it because I have endometriosis and estrogen would make it grow.
