Hi Tidalwave!
How are you feeling today? I'm so sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Let me tell ya...I had a bleeding stomach ulcer in 1992 and I was never so sick in all my life! It was caused from taking too much Excedrin for stress headaches I was receiving from my job at the time. Anyway, I had to learn to eat several small meals a day for a while and was on Zantac at the time. I couldn't drink milk because it actually produced more stomach acid! The key to feeling better is to always keep something in your tummy. Crackers are good! I also found that bananas helped a lot as they seemed to coat my tummy. Nothing too greasy or "heavy". Stay away from caffeine, anything that is acidy (fruit juices etc). But again, make sure your tummy doesn't become empty. It needs that good in there as a buffer for the acid. Also, I was taking Mylanta or Tums in between meals and that seemed to help. I haven't had a problem since it healed back then except for the occasional upsets caused by too much acid, but I take Prilosec faithfully every morning. Doc says to do that for as long as it takes, and I notice if I miss a couple of days I can feel the burning. Sorry for the long post, just trying to help! Feel better! ~~Ajay
Thank you, Ajay, for that advice. I think mine came from the tylenol and ibuprofen I had to take for so long because of the problems with my teeth. It took the dr's a year and a half to tell me that I was grinding my teeth at night causing them to crack. Thankfully, that is over, now I have the stomach issues to deal with.
I have found your advice to be right on. I believe I ate a little too much at lunchtime yesterday and I paid for it dearly. I am slowly but surely learning what I can and cannot do.
Thank you again for taking time to respond.
