Hi , My periods have been irregular for about a year at which time I also started progesterone cream . For instance this month I bled for 14 days and in between that time it stopped for a day the started and the odor smelled like a dead animal. My periods were always short about 2-3 days. Does anyone out there have this going on?Plus I have all the other symptoms right along ...the deprsession ,anxiety, insomnia etc.

My last period was 9th May - on that day I started taking Bio-identical progesterone cream as advised by my doctor. I take it for 3 weeks and stop for 7 days and wait for a period. The problem is my period never came and I'm still waiting. I think its the progesterone cream thats messed up my cycle but I did seem to be doing well on it.

Hi rjfrost,
I don't think the progesterone cream should cause such irregular bleeding--especially if you are using it for 10-12 days per month or three weeks on, one week off. Have you talked to your doctor about the bleeding? I think it is something that should be checked out.

thank you for replying .....I asked ny nurse at the gyn office and she said the biodentical prog. cream could make me bleed more. I alse forgot to add that I have fibriods as well. It's just really odd the odor that comes from it...it's awful. I'm having heart palpitations to......fun,fun fun. I think I have every symptom out there.

You can only bleed as much as the lining you have built up in your uterus, which is caused by estrogen, not progesterone. Progesterone does trigger the bleeding but does not make it excessive.
