I am sure this topic has been discussed before, but can anyone rec. a good foundation? I need something with a fairly heavy but hopefully natural looking coverage. I have had problems with middle-age acne and have a few scars and I am still having breakouts now and then. Thanks for any ideas, Hope

Hello Hope!
I also have some acne and a few scars. I am currently using Beauticontrol Creme-to-Powder foundation and I love it. The coverage is natural, but buildable, and I find I don't need to use concealer. I just don't like layers and layers of goop on my face.I order it from their website.....Beauticontrol.com....... They have wonderful products in my opinion and they don't tend to break me out. Also, make sure you're using products made for your skin type when it comes to cleansing etc. And ALWAYS remove makeup before going to bed! That's key to keeping breakouts at bay. Hope this helps.

as for the acne issue, which i'm familiar with, i've used apple cider vinegar directly from the bottle on a cotton ball like a toner or astringent. be careful not to get near eyes, though. it does have a bit of a sting to it initially, but if you'll use at night and morning before applying your base, hopefully, you should see a nice change. not sure i'd use it all the time, but maybe just as needed. i've also used it as a steam to help open pores from time to time. it truly does have so many uses and benefits.

and yes, ajay, beauticontrol is wonderful!!

best of luck with this, hope!

I am having great results with Avon's Ideal Shade Smooth Mineral Foundation.
It's really great! It does cover well even though you just brush it on circularly over your entire face.
They have many colors and are very good about exchanges if you order online without a representative.
I use the color NUDE.
It's smooth and not clumpy and I've not gotten a single rash from it like I was with liquid foundations, many of them.

Thank you all for your suggestions. My friend sells Beauticontrol so I will look into their products. I am also going to try the vinegar. I had not heard of that but I am willing to give it a try. I never had acne problems as a teen but now I am fighting it big time. Thanks again, Hope

I just started using Chanel and really love it. I too had problems with break outs due to my foundation, but I do not seem to have them with Chanel.

Try Bourjois Repluming one with Collegen, it is lovely and covers well without being heavy.

(I read also that Chanel and Bourjois are one and the same-not sure if this is true but I have both in different nail polishes and they both stand up well to everyday knocks)

I switched to Bare Minerals and just love the stuff. My skin has never been clearer or looked better. It takes some getting used to as far as the feel and how to apply it, but once you do, you will probably fall in love with the stuff. I recommend going to a local retailer and buying it there, where someone can customize the shade for you. I was a member of the club for a while and my shipments kept getting lost in the mail. The club only has sample size products, where as retail has full size. Be sure to get the mineral veil. I use my Lancombe blush and lipstick. Great combination.
