Hi Ladies,
Do any of you experience jerking of your arms or legs? I have started this for about a month now. It first started just at night, where my whole body would jerk, or my legs or my stomach would jerk. Sometimes it would do it only once, but then sometimes my limbs or body would jerk several times which of course set off my anxiety and panic.
Now, I am experiencing some jerking in my legs and arms during the day. Along with a twitching sensation just under my skin.
I have been to an Endocronologist and a Neurologist. I had an EEG done and it was normal. All my blood work was normal too. My adrenal glands, thyroid, liver, glucose, estrogen all within normal ranges. Feeling a bit like a pin cushin at this point!
My anxiety has been off the charts in the past month too. All this came out of the blue I think and it is really scaring me.
I have read about sleep starts and hypnic jerks, Restless Leg Syndrome, etc....
Is there anyone who can relate? I hope I am not alone!!!
Thanks for putting up with my HEALTH ANXIOUS self...
Take Care,
Sunny~

Hi Sunny:
I have been having the muscle and limb twitching for over a year now. I spoke to me doctor about it back when and they told me it was related to anxiety. It comes and goes. I dont have the twitches everyday but they are frequent enough to make me realize they are not gone yet. It would not surprise me in the least to find out that they are related to peri too, just like the aches and pains and foot cramps.
I hope this allays your fears some. I am a health anxiety nut too.
Hugs to you,
Jeaninne

Thank you Jeaninne for your reply, I truly do appreciate it.
I want to believe it is from anxiety or hormones and at this point I should believe it is. I guess I am just a worry wart and I do suffer from anxiety on top of being perimenopausal.
I just turned 41 this year and I think I have been to more doctors and had more tests in the past year than my whole life.
I just worry that it is some awful disease and I hate being this way!! Why, can't I be the opposite?? Arrghhh...
My husband says when I stop worrying about it, that is when it will go away...hmmm...doubtful. But I wish I thought more like him.
Thank you again for taking the time to respond.
Sunny~

It's amazing how every time I experience a new symptom I come to this forum and find someone else going through it, too. I started noticing these little jerks at night. It's something I used to get when I was asleep and having that common dream about falling. I'd jerk myself awake. Well, now it happens when I'm already wide awake and seemingly relaxed. I've reached the point now where a thing like that just won't worry me. There are worse symptoms to have, so I just ignore it and figure it'll pass in time just like everything else. I was wondering, though, if the fact that I decreased my daily magnesium might have something to do with it.

I have been starting to chart when I get these twitches to see if they are cyclical. I get the twitches in my legs, mostly at night and get horrible muscle cramps in the top of my feet that are not relieved by walking or rubbing. The twitches feel like something moving under my skin. UCK So far they are coming in cycles but we shall see.

Hi all,
I had this as one of the first symptoms I experienced on the meno ride. along with a sudden attack of anxiety. It went away when i tried not to focus on it. I think it may have been a sudden drop in hormones as it has returned again after about 10 months along with what I believe may be another sudden drop. I would sometimes have a jerking limb but mostly lots of little twitches under the skin that you couldn't see but I could feel. I can have it anywhere really. I haven't had my hormones tested so don't know if this is the reason or not but along with other symptoms I believe it may be. I'm 43 and still having pretty regular periods but now only lasting 2 days. Do any of you have chills or goosebumps ???
Hugs...Honey xxxx
