For years I have been in pursuit of the prefect lipstick. What I've been looking for is a lipstick that looks like the natural colour of my lips, though adding a lot of oomph! I wanted something to really make my lips pop, but not look overdone and exaggerated. I have literally tried hundreds of colours over the past several years. I used to work in the cosmetic industry, so I was exposed to many different lines (and freebees!). I've tried high-end brands and colours, as well as drugstore brands and colours. Well, I finally found my picks and I thought I would share them......
My favorite is CARGO, Botannical line (can be purchased at Sephora) in Sagarmatha The colour is fantastic, the formula is so moisturzing, and for every tube purchased, $2.00 goes to St. Jude's Hospital (and it's 100% recycable). This really is my favorite lipstick of all time!
My next favorite can be found at any drugstore, its called TruShine - Blushberry Shine 415 by Cover Girl. It's just beautiful and feels great on your lips.
My third and fourth favorites have a bit more colour, however; still very natural looking. They're both by Bobbi Brown (found at Department Stores), one is called Rose Petal, a beautiful berry/pink/nude shade that looks very natural and wears very well. Not as natural as the two colours above, though still very subdued and pretty. The other is called, Italian Rose, somewhat darker and also a very beautiful shade. They're from the Creamy Lip Colour line from Bobbi Brown.
Also, if you want two great lipliners that line the lips but are very natural looking (match the colour of your lips), try Rimmel's Addiction or Tiramisu (I use Tiramisu). Rimmel is carried at most drugstores.
All right, well that's it for my latest finds. I get so excited when I find something that I really, really like.
Hugs,
Karen

Thanks Karen, I've been on the search for a lipstick that will stay true for hours while also looking natural. I haven't had any luck. I'll pick up the Cover girl brand since it's easiest to find. I wish there was a Sephora's close to me. I hear they have a lot of girly goodies.
thanks for the tips!

Okay, I'm going to keep adding to my list whenever I come across something good.
Clinique's Blushing Nude, a very pretty shade, think the colour of your lips just take it up a couple of notches.
Also, Clinique's Spiced Apple is very pretty if you're looking for a subdued colour in the reddish/tawny family. I'm always looking for a red I can wear that's not shocking, and really not too red.
Also, Bobbie Brown makes a beautiful red, it's called Crimson Shimmer, subdued and has lots of staying power.
I'm on to San Francisco in a few days, I'll probably add more when I get back.......
P.S. Carol, if you're looking for a lipstick with staying power, Cover Girl;s Trushine line is NOT it! Of all the lipsticks I have listed, that one has the least staying power.

Lipstick? For what? My lips have disapeared!!
Seriously, thanks for the info - anything that will help. I guess I probably never had those rich, luscious Angelina Jolie lips, but gosh, with age they've gotten lost. But I think those puffed up "add on" ones look pretty ridiculous. Just my opinion.
Take care everyone!

Yes, I like the long lasting ones. I've tried to be a girly-girl that re-touches her lip stick and brushes her hair but... it's not me. Once in the am and that's it. And without color on my lips, I look washed out but most of the long lasting ones look so phony too. I keep hoping though.

The color of my lips has dissapeared too. I use Jordana Easyliner for Lips from Walgreens for less than $2. They are retractable so no sharpener is needed. I color in my lips with the liner pencil and top them off with a little chap stick to keep them moist. I like Baby Berry when I need more pink and Tawny for a more natural look. The color stays on for hours.
