How many of you work part time?

Hi jeaninne
Wow, sounds like your periods are getting very wierd on you!
And if you say you have two teenagers YOU WORK ALRIGHT GIRLFRIEND..........Motherhood is the hardest job of all!!
I don't know how these poor gals do it, by themselves, especially the single moms who are going thru this.
I am 51 and had my last period December of last year. So i've got six months to go. I have had depression and terrible panic disorder
for most of my life, so i don't know how much of it i can attribute to MENO, but I'M SURE the depression has got to have something to do with it.
what I can totally relate to is, how different i am now, compared to ten years ago.
I have been on the couch most of the day, on this website. Yesterday too. Course where i live it's 115 today and i hate it.
I was born and raised in Palm Springs, CA and you'd think i'd be used to the heat.........NOT............nothing like a hot flash when it's 115 outside...............

I'm 49.
Last period was 16 months ago.
Married (31 years)
1 son who is married and raising my 2 grandbabies. They live close so I get to see them often.
I do work full time but I'm on the verge of losing my job and looking to replace it. I'd much rather work than look. Ughh.
I'm sure I have it much easier than some since I only have DH who lives with me. He's pretty self sufficient too so the only struggles I have are with myself and these up and down hormones.

Last period was almost 67 days ago (darn, I probably jinxed it into starting just by typing that!)
I'm 54, been married 30 years.
No, I don't work outside the house, but I'm heavily into volunteer work.
2 grown kids, but one is still at home...I'm still exhausted from the past 28 years of raising them!
No grandkids! Just "grandkitties"!
My main symptoms right now are mostly hot flashes, not sleeping thru the night, or sleeping fitfully, and lots of soreness in my hip/leg/back...

I will join the survey!
Last period that was real, March 2007....have had some spotting from taking hormone replacement.
I am 47.
Divorced twice, currently living common law for last 8 years.
4 kids ages 29, 26, 22 and 18....the youngest still lives at home.
3 grandchildren, none of whom I am raising...ages 12, 7, and 4.
I work weird hours and days, I am a realtor, I couldn't work for about 4 months when my big ugly crash happened, but am back at it now.
The worst symptoms were hormonally driven anxiety, depression, panic and agoraphobia....ugh!

I'm 49 and just got my period this morning

Last period was on April 29 this year.
I have been married over 20 years.
No children.
Work full time and I'm tired.
I always feel like I am on the verge of having a period, but then again, I just got one so who's to figure.
I've been in peri since my mid 30s.

I am 51 and have been married 30 years.
Last period December 2008 but missed 5 periods during the latter part of last year.
Two children Emily 23 and James 20, both still at home.
No grand-children.
Hubby and I jointly own our company and I work when I am well enough. Do freelance photography if time and health allow.
Peri started at age 38 with migraines and IBS type problems. Diagnosed with enteric neuropathy in 2000.
My main problem is that I have had to cope with menopause, with a very nasty neurological disease on board.
Present problems mainly due to loss of temp. control, fatigue and a worsening of my underlying condition due to withdrawal of oestrogen. ( I struggle with the fear that menopause might just be the straw that breaks the camels back. I can't allow myself to think like that so I just keep struggling on. With the help of Powersurge, I think I am doing better than I expected at present.)

Tidal, I have to agree... I'm posting for the first time tonight, (see my Intro and query on Breast Pain)
When you've just got no choice, you just try to get by day by day...
I'm 57, divorced 10 years, having increasingly annoying peri symptoms over the past couple of years, work full time in journalism, a field that is tanking and everyone is scrambling to keep their jobs... in the next few weeks I have to start a new assignment where I'm going to be driving around constantly and competing with the energy of 25-year-old recent college grads...I have full custody of my 16-year- old son, who is learning to drive and wants to get his own car as soon as he gets his license in the fall! there's anxiety in itself...
Had skipped months, phantom periods, night sweats (which aren't so bad in the winter, it saves on heating oil) but for the past month have had severely swollen breasts and lower back pain like I haven't had since pregnancy.
Lovely, but what are you going to do... also don't have many friends to commiserate since most hang out together during the day while I'm working (they don't have to) and on weekends like to spend "family time" with their spouse.

Hi, Erynnsmama - I am 51, also, and my period is about nine weeks late. I was having terrible urethra sensitivity, but that has subsided. Otherwise, I've felt okay, I think . . . Depression has always been something I've fought, so I can't really count that as a symptom.
Are you taking anything, prescription or otherwise, for symptoms or anything? I haven't taken a thing, so far -- I'm just getting through this as is, for now. I'm a little worried about being estrogen dominant - not sure about that, though. I guess I'm not sure about anything. I just don't know what to expect here.
Anyhow, I thought I'd ask if you were taking anything (HRT, anything bio-identical, etc.).
It's fairly hot where I am, too, but I've yet to see a single hot flash. Maybe they're coming.

Hi, mom2rudy -
I've been about nine weeks without a period. Are you taking anything (HRT, or anything) for any symptoms?
I forgot to mention to everyone:
I'm 51, married (to hubby #2), I have 5 children - 29, 26, 21, 20, and 9. My 9-yr.-old is still at home, of course. No grandchildren, but I do have two grand birds. LOL.

Hi,
I am 43. Last period was May2, 2008
I have 2 teenagers ( ages 15 and 17....help me please...lol)
I did work part time up until recently. I think it was a good thing for me. I like to keep busy. I am going to take the summer off then attempt to find another part time job in the Fall.
I have been married for 19 years to a man who is somewhat understanding but has days that he is "convinced that I hate him"...not true, I just have days where I hate everything!
No grandkids and with these 2 teenagers, bet not have any for a while!

hi to all,
I am 41 and married for 4 years the second time ...widowed the first.
I have not missed any periods thus far...was a week late a couple times in the past year and many times 2 weeks early over the past couple of years, more so the past year though. Peri started for me probably mid 30's.
I did have my own cleaning business that was going really well and I actually loved because I really liked my customers, however 2 years ago I just began to have so many symptoms (most troublesome was the hotflashes, palpitations, and dizzyness and crashing fatigue so much so that I felt my arms and legs were made of lead) I had to let it go because I couldn't drive from the dizzyness, I was so tired and mentally foggy and was having panic attacks. I haven't worked since...well I should say worked in the paycheck area...we all work.
I have 2 children 11 and 19 from my first marriage.
I have no pets as I seem to be allergic to many "pets" wouls love one though.
Things are getting better, I have about 50/50 now good and rough days where when this really got going I was almost not functioning.
I have steered my career path to my drawing and painting and hope to get that up and going soon...so maybe quiting my job wasn't so bad. It has pushed me to use my talents and step out of my comfy little box some.
hugs, Mikki

I am 47 and married for 25 years to a master electrician. .
My last period was in August of 2005. I am on medication for Bipolar Disorder. That probably has a lot to do with the early menopause. Menopause usually comes late for the women in my family.
I am retired US Navy.
I have a 20 year old son getting ready to go to Army National Guard bootcamp.
I have no pets as I seem to be allergic to many pets.
Post meno has actually been pretty good for me since my Bipolar Disorder fed off of estrogen. Without the up and downs of the periods, I don't have to take as much medication. I don't take HRT.

I'm 45, last period was March 1st 2007
Happily married for 16 years (although hubby & me have been together for 22)
One daughter 26, one granddaughter almost 2
I'm on medication for Hashimoto's (Thyroid ) Disease, Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, Rheumatoid Arthritis.
I'm a nurse, for 22 years, work full-time, hubby is on disability for a good number of health reasons.
I was having hot flashes with regularity, now it seems to have calmed down a bit....
I am seriously considering another GYN dr for a second opinion.......why am i getting all these "phantom periods"?
Driving me nuts!

Hi,
I am on day 4 of my period (usually lasts five days). I am a 47 year old mom of five (29, 24,23, 12, 10) with two grandchildren. I have been married for 24.5 years to a wonderful, helpful, understanding man. I have been in peri, I suppose, since age 40, as my panic/anxiety increased significantly back then.
I've been having panic attacks and generalized anxiety since age 17, so I don't know how much of what I'm going through is caused by peri. I have night sweats often and hot flashes once in a while. I have many sleepless nights, especially around my period.
I don't work outside the home and haven't since 2000 when the company I worked for downsized. They gave me one year of severence pay, which I gladly accepted, and they paid for my family's health insurance for that year. It was a great deal. I could have stayed with them because I had senority, but I wanted to be at home with my daughters who were 2 and 4 at that time.
Palpitations seem to be my greatest problem; I often go into major panic when I have them. It's been one of the toughest symptoms to deal with. I have had my heart checked regularly over the years with normal results, but I still have trouble getting through them without worrying that there's something wrong with my heart.
Since finding PS, I have made some new friends and I must say they are very helpful and supportive.
