Hi, blessy -

I seem to be having every kind of symptom, these days. Yes, I do have some jaw/chin discomfort - AND, I've felt some sort of weird sensation, floating around my jaw/chin/cheek.

<sighs> Just add it to my list of complaints!

Hi Sweet Bugaboo,

Can your description of weird sensation and discomfort be classified as pain? Are they only felt upon touch? My pain seems more like rheumatism pain upon touch on the chin area. Will be visiting a doctor soon to check it out. God bless.

Could you have TMJ? Did this pain come or get noticed whe you woke up and moved your jaw.

Alot of poeple have TMJ and only have mild symptoms and may never know or relate them to their jaw, but 2 years ago I started to get pain on the R. side of my face, to the R. ear, in the R. teeth....the pain was so bad I would lay there with heat on my face in tears not knowing what was wrong and niether did anyone else. For a few mo. this went on until I diagnosed myself after hearing my jaw grinding and popping when I opened it, went to a dentist and had a mouth gaurd made.....whoalla as long as I where this peice day and night except for eating, my jaw is fine and i never get that pain again. When I don't wear it I wake up someitmes and can barely open my mouth, or if during the day I don't wear it and am tense I will stiffen up and struggle to move my jaw.

The fact that you woke up with it is why it is a good possibility because alot of us clentch and grind while we sleep making our jaw muscles very sore and it can radiate to other places like neck, head, eyes, ears and so on. HUGS MIkki

TMJ is a very good possibility. I've not experienced it myself, but earlier this year, my mother, now in her late seventies, also woke up one morning with a very painful jaw. It ached when she opened and closed it, and she could barely move it to eat. My dad found info in his trusty "symptoms" book and it sounded just like TMJ. Try alternating cold and hot compresses. This is what she did, as well as wearing a mouthguard at night, and after a few weeks the pain went away. She has been known to grind her teeth a lot at night, and this is what we figured brought it on.

Hi, blessy -

It's more like something is stuffed in there - or, like there might be some liquid in there, floating around my upper jaw/middle cheek area. Today it hasn't bothered me as much . . . so, I honestly don't know what to think.

God bless you, too. I hope your doctor visit goes well. Keep us posted.

Hi my dear PS friends,
Hope all of you had a great weekend. Got back from the doctor's visit and she ruled out TMJ as this starts from the jaw just below our ear. Mine is right on the chin part so she got me to check with the dentist later.
How frustrating! Can this be a peri symptom? The chin pain seems to be milder today so I guess I will just monitor it for the time being. God bless all smile.gif
