yes, it's me again..lol...here's the thing, with so much of the stuff that's been going on with me latley ....

I can't figure out, it it's estrogen DOMINANT or to LITTLE estrogen? geez! I have read so much, have taken in so much info., that I'm bleary eyed! latley, my symptoms (which i've posted again and again!), are:

shaking internally, and somewhat externally
DETACHED
OFF BALANCE
when i'm not outrightly SHAKING internally, there is this weird feeling in there, almost as if there's this VERY low buzzing
which makes me very nervous and tense, and anxious ... i have to keep moving so i don't feel it!
Weird sinus feelings
Feeling HOT all the time (well, there ARE times during the day i feel "normal", but not to many now)
the whites of my eyes are not as white anymore
Feelings of cold and hot in my body at the same time
Chills (on and off)
slightly queasy
lousy feeling in my stomach, hard to describe

SOME ibs symptoms
lightheaded
left side of my body, mainly my arms and left leg, feels as if i've been sunburned, but not BADLY, yet, you can feel it.
TOTALLY NOT "ME" feeling!!!! (not in my body)
SOME pressure behind my eyes

AND just basically a really "sickly" feeling all the time now, as of last Tuesday.....I mean, i can remember that day, i will never forget it! All of this just hit me out of the blue that morn. when I got up .. now, I've had all those symptoms before, but usually one or maybe two at a time .... but not all at once..almost like I had gotten a virus or whatever! But, NO FEVER.
If anything, on Tuesday, my temp was low...it's been fairly normal since then though. I was thinking, thyroid, maybe.
But, from what I've read, both peri, and thyroid exhibit the same symptoms, so here we go! sad.gif

As the days have gone by since last Tues. I've gotten better, a little every day....but this has been wild. In a way, maybe i shouldn't be surprised, all along, since peri really kicked in, about a year and a half ago, most of the symptoms, HAVE COME OUT OF THE BLUE anyway....or just, literally, OVERNIGHT, so that when i 'd wake up, THERE IT WAS! Which, then makes you afraid to go to sleep, i mean, i'm afraid of what'll happen the next day, maybe I'll start vomiting up green goo, and turning my head around and around at a 360 degree angle next!!!!! LOL wink.gif

ok, i just noticed i screwed up the post farther up there, i seemed to have over spaced in between the symptoms...lol....I don't know what i'm doing half the time anymore! llol .. blink.gif

anyway, you get the drift. ..... and being that i'm only 29 tongue.gif .. i just can't figure this out anymore....

i would appreciate any thoughts here! anyone else with all this AT ONCE!?

Well you are not alone mydarling as I can't work out if I'm E dominant or E deficient either. The symptoms for both seem to be the same depending on which info you are going by. My main problem now is what I think is fluid retention or edema in my lower body which according to some can be low estrogen or estrogen dominance dry.gif . I'm approaching the dreaded ovulation time of the month and everything gets worse around this time so I'm picking it's hormonally induced what ever it is and I'm not liking it one little bit mad.gif .......

Mydarling have you ever had your thyroid tested fully?? I had mine done recently and everything checked out normal there.

I've had the sickly feeling at times also and only in the morning when I wake up it was very much like morning sickness so maybe the E dominant theory is correct.

Since we are both only 29!!! tongue.gif our doctors are reluctant to test hormone levels, well mine is anyway biggrin.gif maybe you will have more luck with yours if you ask them.

Hi, mydarling!

I'm wondering if the fact that you feel hot most of the time, and also have chills, that it could mean lower estrogen? I don't know - but last year when I had missed a few periods, my doctor asked me if I was having hot flashes. I told him I hadn't had any (and I STILL have NOT had any! . . . yet) - so, he said that he thought my periods would come back (they did and were regular until last month) -- but because he asked me about the hot flashes, I was wondering if they have something to do with lower estrogen . . . I think so.

Anyone out there know for sure?

HI Rox,

no, she won't do it either! i've tried, and to some degree i understand, being that the hormonal level changes all day, so i can understand the reasoning, but geez, do it for MY peace of mind then!!!!! As far as thyroid, last Feb. (2007), i had a thyroid blood test thingy, but apparently they didn't check for the FREE T's ...... they only did the normal T3 and T4 or whatever..... which, they felt, came back normal. But that was over a year ago. I want to have anohter one done, and get the whole thing this time!

as far as the waking up with the queasiness, yes, i do too, and now, I'M SHAKING! yeah, this truly is fun! I don't know if that's from hormones or what! I know there is an entire forum here just for SHAKING so i guess it must be hormonally induced, but to just wake up with it, one morning?????? HAS THAT EVER HAPPENED TO YOU? have you just woken up one morning, with some awful symptom, and after that, it stayed? That seems to be the way i live!

See, as far as ovulating, i can't tell anymore, it seemed to be happening yesterday, but not today! which would make it only day 9 of the cycle. ..but then again, everything with my cycle is off latley. For the past two months, i've been 2 weeks late both months! UGH! and then, the ovulation thing, is now taking place WHENEVER! THIS IS INSANE!

OH WAIT.....i forgot to add, that where once i felt lots of "anxiety", i can now, safely say, it feels more like HYSTERIA!
SERIOUSLY....that's the feeling, HYSTERIA! I couldn't think of the word to actaully describe this feeling, I'm to used to just plain old ANXIETY....., i still have that, don't get me wrong, but it seems to have elevated to a feeling of HYSTERIA, not all the time, but enough.

Rox, thanks for replying so quickly, believe me, I need all the encouragement i can get right now! blink.gif

Oh you and me both and I know what you mean about the hysteria as I'm feeling it too. I've got all sorts of weird things roaming around in my mind as to what the problem with my legs is, I've just added neuropathy to my list and I'm becoming quite alarmed now. Maybe it's time to revisit the doctor even though he says everything is okay but something has to be causing this tingling stinging tight feeling I know it's not in my freaking head. Can water retention make your legs feel like this??? unsure.gif

Rox and Sweet Bugaboo ... i have to laugh, we sound like basket cases .. well, Sweet B. you sound a bit better, but I must say, Rox , you and I sound like we're "on the edge" ... gosh, what's next? Sweet B.,...yeah, i don't know either, whether it's low or high estrogen causing any of this .... it's so hard to get an answer really as well. You end up with so many different opinions, and then, you're back to square one. Rox, the leg thing, i've had. I've had so many diff. leg "things" since peri hit me .... to me, honestly, it doesn't sound serious at all....i've had what you're having now. I don't know what it is exactly, i never really found out, but it passed. But, yes, i was nervous about that too.....well, can you blame us? lol

ok girls.....now, i'm going to TRY to sleep....and hope that when i wake up, I don't haven't turned into something from some sci-fi horror flic! lol tongue.gif

just keep in mind,.....say it over and over and over and over...."I'm only 29" .."I'm only 29" .... rolleyes.gif

OMG mydarling you sure cheer me up when I need it most with your humour, thank gawd we can still keep that going eh laugh.gif

I have just spent the last 2 hours writing up a peri journal and it has a reoccuring pattern emerging on the low estrogen days, like days 1 -5 then around days 9-11, maybe I should tinker with the flaxseed and vit E and cycle them like hormones to when I need extra E or P (Flaxseed is a phytoestogen and Vit E promotes Progesterone). My gawd I have to do something or I'm going to pop out of my skin from this tension huh.gif . Maybe I should try a diuretic to ease the tight leg feeling and see if that works unsure.gif and work from there. If I could just get rid of one problem at a time I would be happy that I am making some progress at least, is it too much to ask, surely not sad.gif .

skiergirl
Just to make things even more confusing--you can be both estrogen dominant and estrogen deficient! In fact that is the state most of us are in! When you are in peri you don't usually ovulate every month so you don't produce much progesterone. So any estrogen you are producing is largely unopposed--thus it is "dominant". However, your total estrogen can still be low enough to cause estrogen deficiency symptoms like shaking, hot flashes, itching, etc. Fun huh?
sunflowermmh
I was going to give my 2 cents, but skiergirl said exactly what I was told.

I too have symptoms of estrogen def. such as the classic hotflash, nightsweat and a few more, but on the other side of the coin I have signs of too much...my fingers look like sausages sometimes I have to take my ring off before it has to get sawed off when 3 days later it will fit perfect again, my breast for the most part don't hurt anymore, but every now and then they will get sore, I can get so nauseous, I just had a doosy of a period with flooding when for the past few mo it has been fairly light and a few others.

My estradiol last taken was 21, before that it was 32. Now I know these are low so that is going to make me feel estrogen def. symptoms, however when compared to my progesterone it may be high which will cause symptoms off too much because the estrogen that is there isn't opposed by the progesterone and just left to dominate the cycle. Confusing I know....I gave up on this one a while ago.

Ovulation, when I started peri, used to be as bad as my pms, but now that is even becoming less trouble...I am not sure if and when I am doing it anymore since i usually get the dreaded pain, would feel sick to my stomach, anxious, palp's and I really don't feel that anymore. Don't make yourself crazy trying to figure it out because you probably won't...I just have had to try and find something to take the edge off of it all rather than try to get myself in perfect balance...I don't know if that is possible right now. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MOSTLY MIDCYCLE AND PREMENSTRUAL, BUT SOME DAYS WITHOUT GOOD REASONS.
The hormonal fluxes case all the weird symptoms, as it messes up with autonomic system.
No worries, it will pass...one day, I sure hope wink.gif

You are only twentynine? Okay, so not menopause. But at the ripe old age of twentynine when I had two children within two years I went into estrogen deprivation. I went into depression. Have your estrogen checked by your gyno. If I had only known then what I know now. I had postpartum depression. Do you have babies?

no, lilyfields,,,,I'm NOT 29, that was only a joke! NO, THAT WAS QUITE A WHILE AGO! .. lol ....yes, i have 3 grown sons ... I always kid about being 29, because i absolutley refuse to age! wink.gif well, you know, a lot of the way we end up feeling about ourselves, and life has to do with how we think, how we perceive things. It's my way, of staying YOUNG!!!! (through all this he**)!!!!!

Carolineuk
I worked it out as both, too little most of the time and then too much all of a sudden.

Most of the time with the hot flashes going on and muscle aches etc etc, its too little but I think then you can get a surge, causing headache/migraine, sleeplessness, anxiety etc etc etc. and all the other weird symtoms we get.

The whole thing isn't balanced anymore. I could do without the surges and i think once the ovaries shut down these will stop and then your body will settle down and get used to little or no estrogen.
Hope this makes sense, and still not sure if this is right ohmy.gif but it feels like that is what is going on with me.
best wishes
Caroline

Mrs Barista
Can totally identify with some of the posts on here. Reckon I'm short of progesterone (at least not enough to balance estrogen) as my luteal phase (ovulation to menstruation) is 8-10 days instead of 14. I also get fluid retention - don't really notice it physically but do literally put on several pounds in a day once my estrogen levels start to rise (assume with very little progesterone to balance them out) around day 9, plus this also coincides with racing heart. In fact I have 2 clear windows in my cycle where I get a racing heart - day 6-9 and post-ovulation - got a chart with this on going back 15 months which my cardiologist used to time when best to have a 7 day ECG and sure enough we caught one episode on the tape.

I've now developed mild asthma which I suffered from as a child but completely grew out of post-puberty. Again this is a symptom of progesterone deficiency. All this plus the estrogen deficit symptoms of palps, broken sleep etc! Reckon there's no way to fully prove which it is, but I'm working on accepting it's all "hormonal fluctuations" of one type or another. The frustration is you just get used to one symptom and it disappears to be replaced by something equally troublesome but completely unexpected!

For what it's worth, I've had experience with the shaky feeling. That was back when I really was 29. I had been taking Orthocyclen and Zoloft for a couple of years for PMS (big mistake), and had tapered off the Zoloft 6 months earlier at the doctor's request. Anyway, I had been suffering horrible daily headaches that would make me feel sick all over, but I continued going to work. One day I noticed that I felt shaky inside, and a little weak. I figured it was low blood sugar and at lunch I'd eat something and feel better. Food didn't help, but by the next day I felt better. A few days later I went through some stuff at home that left me really stressed. I mean I felt like I had really gone past a breaking point. For the rest of the week I felt sickly. I went into work one day and suddenly got very light-headed. Lying down with my feet elevated didn't help, though it usually does. It was the last time I went to work.

For a few days after that I was okay at home, but then I had these light-headed spells every day and had to stay in bed. One morning I woke up shaking from my core and not knowing why. I was like that all weekend. It was a few days before my cycle would start so I know hormones had a role, but I also believe it was adrenal exhaustion after reading up on it. For three days I was shaking and couldn't stand or sit up for more than a few seconds. My sense of smell was incredibly strong, and the sound of a door closing would make me jump even if I knew it was about to close. It was like all my senses were magnified 100x. I immediately went off the birth control pills and was launched into 3 months of the worst hormonal symptoms I'd ever had. It was 6 months before I really felt like myself again, although I had developed agoraphobia by then.

Anyway, I'm just saying it's a good idea to take care of your adrenals. Relaxation exercises, lots of vitamin C, etc. Today I very rarely get the shaky feeling, but when I do it's usually during the PMS weeks and doesn't bother me as much. I just try to eat better and do some relaxation exercises. I should probably mention at the time this all happened I hadn't been exercising or taking vitamins at all, and I ate fast food lunches and junk food from vending machines every day.

I believe I'm estrogen dominant and have been for many years. I think that's why I had the headaches. The headaches stopped when I went off the pills. My mother was the same way. When she had a hysterectomy they tried to get her on estrogen but she got horrible headaches. She hasn't taken any hormones since then and she hasn't had any more problems.

Suzy89,
this sounds a lot like what I went thru while on BC and about 3 months after stopping cold turkey. It's been a little over a year since I crashed with the same symptoms you describe. the senses being magnified 100x and the worst hormonal symptoms. I ended up going to the doctor and being put on HRT since then. I still don't feel right. Now I am down to taking 100 mg. prometrium and .5 divigel everyday. I get the migraines and headaches. It seems like every day towards evening I get a dull headache. I am wondering now if it could be from the HRT. I am so afraid of coming off of the HRT for fear of crashing like I did last year. I just don't know what to do anymore. Last week was a good week for me. that is when I went from the oral estrogen 1.5 mg pd, to the daily .5 divigel. Yesterday I got a mild migraine and still today have mild headache. this morning I strarted again with waking up and having the little surges and twitches, shakey, dizzy and weak feeling. I wish I knew what to do. the doctor is really no help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through it, too. The whole experience was something I truly wouldn't wish on my worst enemy (if I had one). I know for me the daily headaches stopped when I went off the pills, although I had to wait 3 months for my cycles to start again. It was during those 3 months that I felt like I had killer PMS that wouldn't end. My belly would be so painfully bloated it felt like my skin was going to split any minute (gross, I know). I had that slight dizziness on and off that doesn't knock you off balance but makes you feel like you've been spinning around in a teacups ride. There was other stuff that I thankfully can't remember at the moment. Then at the end of those 3 months I got the worst headache I'd ever had in my life. Two days later my cycles started again and the headaches became a once in a blue moon occurrence, usually toward the end of my periods (probably because the estrogen's starting back up again).

I haven't been able to see a doctor since then since I haven't been working. Still, I figure it was the doctors' advice that got me into that mess so it may be just as well. biggrin.gif I had tried natural progesterone cream and got some relief at the time, but I'm planning to try it again as my symptoms have changed over the years. I've been exercising regularly for a little over a year now, which I think helps. I'm also taking supplements which also help. Vitamin B12 was great for pulling me out of that hopeless mindset. On the advice of someone on this board I started taking magnesium for an eye twitch and random muscle spasms I was experiencing. That really helped. In fact, just coming to this forum has been like medicine for me. When I see that others are experiencing the same problems, my anxiety leaves me which helps the symptoms to ease up.
