Hi Sweet Bugaboo...... Did you or do you find the leg burning/stinging tingling thing was or is worse when you are stressed or very anxious or when hormones bottom out?? I have found a pattern emerging for mine. It really started approx 18months ago when I had a major meltdown from stress and hormones I suspect. It's worse in the early part of my cycle like between days 2 to 15 then eased off until I got my period again. I had a reprieve from the stress and started a mild AD and things settled down mainly because the anxiety subsided for many many months until this month when I've had a relapse of anxiety and hormone issues. Not sure why but maybe stress has a lot to do with it. The stingy tingly feeling is mainly in the fronts of my legs from top to bottom. My feet don't seem to be affected so much this time which is a bonus as I have been looking after them for a long time now. I had a massage the other day and this just exascerbated the symptoms in fact it started them up tenfold again after a long repreive. So many things are going through my mind now like MS, Lupus, neuropathy, fibromyalgia, Lymes, Hashimotos or some other autoimmune disorder or vascular disease etc etc and I don't know what to do about it. I am going to have to go back to the doctor this week and try a process of elimination to what he thinks it may be. When I had it before he said it was the anxiety causing the sensations and he may well be right and I sure hope he is right as this is the lesser of 2 evils. I only had it a short time when the anxiety got right out of control 18 months ago and as soon as I calmed down it went away but returned when my dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer but went away again once he had the all clear after his operation. It seems to start with intense muscle tension that I can never get rid of but this time it's started with the fear of why my legs feel so tight at skin level and never ending co-blended family stress and the massage treatment I should never had had. Like the saying goes don't fix something that ain't broke and I wish I had adhered to this before I had a trial of reflexology 2 months ago that started my never ending backache. Why would a foot massage create a backache you may ask, well I dont really know but it sure did and that night my whole lower body was on fire from it. Maybe it's telling me it doesn't like the hands on stuff. The reflexologist said I had a sciatica problem after he had pressed some tender spots in my lower back and hip area so this must have set off the sciatica. The back pain started about 1/2 an hour after the treatment so there must be some connection to all this now. I only went for treatment cos I wanted to do something nice for myself, nice huh, yea right look where it's got me now

. The leg sensations are worse when I wake in the morning with that dreaded early morning anxiety so maybe high cortisol is the culprit too. Funny thing is the back pain is not so bad these past few day since the cortisol is supposedly high again, maybe it's cancelling out the pain

who knows, I surely don't....
I've rambled on enough but I can't concentrate at all right now and I'm probably repeating myself so I apologise for that but I need to vent and hopefully find some insight to what is happening, again.

Hi, Rox! -- Oh, geez, it sure sounds like you've had a tough time with that nonsense! I DO believe that the sciatica could cause you alot of discomfort, and I'm assuming that's what you have - possibly along with "idiopathic" neuropathy (I'm assuming that your neuropathy comes and goes, kinda like mine does).
I tell ya, it's a TOTAL shock when a person's limbs suddenly start burning one day, for no obvious reason! Just like you've wondered if you have a serious condition, I've wondered THE SAME THING about myself!! When my doctor diagnosed the "idiopathic" neuropathy (which means it comes on a person, seemingly without reason), I was convinced it would never go away. It did, for the most part, but I still have episodes of it. But for awhile there, it was really awful - just MISERABLE to live with. My arms and legs felt like they were constantly on fire.
As to whether my nerves/stress has made my episodes worse, I just don't know. It could be hormonal . . .
That's really strange about the foot massage causing problems for your back! . . . Well, our nerves are a delicate network, so I don't doubt it that your foot massage might have brought on some nerve pain in other parts of your body.
That burning is
miserable - so, I hope you have some relief, soon! Please keep me posted.
