hi girls,

ok, now i'm freaking out! I've always had some sort of purple circles under my eyes, since i was a teenager.
But, just now, when I woke up, I looked in the mirror, to do my regular "scan" of my face and all, just in case, something insane has happened overnight .... and lo and behold...it has! On my left eye. It starts on the inside part of the eye and works outward, you know, where the usual purple color begins when you have cirlces under your eyes? Yes, well, OVERNIGHT, on my left eye, it has become DARKER! it's on the right eye a little too, but not as much at all...but you CAN see it. Now, I'm in panic mode! I guess that's because first of all, that's never happened to me, OVERNIGHT, and also, because latley, as you probably all know by now, i've been dealing with this weirdo bladder thing, which started out about 7 weeks ago, as a "sort of" UTI, which i treated myself with lots of cranberry and D-MANNOSE , and after 3 days it was technically "over" (I had been 2 weeks late with my period last month, the first time in my life for that, and that's when the whole bladder thing started), well, the very moment i FINALLY started my period last month, it stopped, just vanished! HOWEVER, on the last day of my period, it slowly started to return....not that full bladder feeling, but more like a weird feeling in there, sometimes it feels like pressure on the bladder, which can be constant all day, or on and off....some days, nothing. It also feels like a consant need to urinate. Well, i had looked up so many diff. things, even cycstitis, etc......i had the urinalysis, and no infection was found. OK, but SUDDENLY OVERNIGHT, the medium purple color under my left eye, has become a very weird darkish purple color! it ALMOST looks like a light charcoal color! So, as you can now imagine, i am in freak out, panic state! I am thinking, bladder cancer, (bec. everyone in my family ahead of me, has died of some kind of cancer), or who knows what! I also keep getting this lousy sore throat! that comes and goes now.....as of about 2 mos. ago....which, i know can be an allergy, or hormones as well.

Has anyone out there had this, or something at least similar? My heart is racing at this moment, and I'm thinking all sorts of wild things! ((because i know the eyes, are supposed to be a sign for certain diseases or whatever) ....

i forgot to tell you guys that, back in Feb. (not THIS last Feb....but the Feb. before), I woke up one morning, and my ONE eye, was all RED...the white part of my eye, was all RED! I MEAN RED! ... I ttoally freaked out with fear, i mean, that was scary! it went away in about a half an hour.....and when i saw the eye dr. he said, that can happen.....no big deal, or deadly diesease. Just to let you know this,, that apparently, these weirdo things can suddenly happen OVERNIGHT and not really be anything deadly.

I am sorry that all this is scaring you, I know what that is like.

Just a thought on a different perspective....could the light have been hitting you eyes unevenly making one side seem darker, was there a window in the room puting light more on one side? If not both my husbands eyes are like this, he has circles under his eyes and somedays they are darker than others, a pale purlple color. He has never thought twice about them though they are what they are to him I guess.

I have noticed slight circles under my eyes, not like his, but just a little darker than they ever were, I suppose it is aging, or not enough sleep.

Try not to worry and please don't search the net for your own sake for what it could be because you will more than likely find many. many things it could fall under. If it really has gotten to you go see your Dr. so he can see it first hand. HUGS MIkki

another thought that just occurred to me ...what do you think?......last night, before bed, i rubbed OIL OF OLAY on my face, now realize though, i do this frequently, NOT EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, but a few nights a week, and I have NEVER noticed this before, at least not SO drastically...or OVERNIGHT. Now, i haven't used the OIL OF OLAY for about say, a week now, i've been using COCONUT OIL, which is all natural, and is so much better for your skin ....so i try to use that instead, but last night, i was out, (I will be getting more today), so all i had, was the OIL OF OLAY....now, also realize, i'm 8 DAYS LATE WITH MY PERIOD (last month, i was 2 whole weeks late, so here we go!)..lol...and now, this month, i'm 8 days late AGAIN .... so, i have to also wonder if THAT has something to do with it, say, the hormonal thing???????

ALSO, when i rubbed the OIL OF OLAY on my face, i rub it UNDER MY EYES too! not OVERLY hard, but FIRMLY.....so maybe, the applied pressure broke a few capilaries .....could be?????? I read (after I googled this, this morning, in panic.....lol....) that the dark circles (mine have always been there, and are a purple color....how lovely!), are from broken capilaries .... and that the skin under the eyes is very thin, and sensitive (which i know, which is why i suddenly remembered about the OIL OF OLAY last night), so, maybe that's it......i don't know. what got me was the SUDDENNESS of it....the fact that it was OVERNIGHT! I mean, like i said, i've had these circles all my life, but this morning, it was DARKER, and if that had built up over time, i wouldn't have thought twice about it....but the fact that it just suddenly happened overnight, scared me.!

I don't know if not drinking enough water has anything to do with it, although i know enough about the body to know, one thing affects the other, and the lack of water is not good. Now, the "wonderful" reason I can't drink water to much anymore, has to be the effects of peri on my intestines, bec. now when i drink water....OH BOY! my intestines don't like it! I get bloated, gassy, a little nauseas (sometimes), and believe me, for HOURS i pay, just for drinking water! this is since about 2 mos. ago......so, this is ALSO new. Now, the only thing i can drink, seems to be Coke....it's all that can seem to go down, with no problem. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


ok, i can't think of anything else right now .....oh, i just noticed that now, the other eye is getting a little darker! HOLY COW! this is really to much! maybe all this is NOTHING, just hormones, and lack of sleep ..... OH YES, bec. see, as of about 8 weeks ago, i've been dealing with this bladder feeling, and the FEELING of having to urinate ALL NIGHT, so i keep waking up all night long.....so, a friend of mine said to me a little while ago, she thinks, that's probably what it is.....EXHAUSTION! true....in the last 8 weeks, i haven't had one good nights sleep......i keep waking up all night,,,,bad bad dreams, can't go back to sleep.....on and on.....so, maybe that's it too! but, who knows anymore. i just know....taht all i feel like doing at this point, is bursting into tears, just like i did yesterday......

Oh, lordy - it really sounds like you've been through the wringer! I'm thinking that the under-eye circle things are nothing to worry about . . . and believe me, if there's something to worry about, I'm ALWAYS the first one to worry!

I can't use Oil of Olay. My favorite (now-retired) dermatologist told me that all a person needs is a mild, gentle bar of soap (Dove, for example, or some other brand that's pure) and water, in order to clean the face. I've also used Retin-A, for years, on the corner of my eyes, my forehead, etc. There's also a wonderful brand of moisturizers, which used to be prescription only, and are now OTC (over the counter) - "Formula 405," by Doak. I have used the facial cream for years, and it's really wonderful. I don't put it over my entire face (it's very creamy and long lasting), just under my eyes, a little on the sides of my mouth, and on my neck.

I'm saying all of this, assuming that you use the Oil of Olay for skin benefits, etc. But if it works for you, then that's great.

Anyway, I'm not too worried about your under-eye circles. I'm assuming they're due to your lack of sleep, possible pressure from applying the OoO, but it doesn't sound serious to me. Maybe give yourself a few days to check the circles and see if they fade out a little.

BTW, I had a steady day of bicarb yesterday, and today the same.
