Hi Girls,
although overall my palps are a lot better just recently I've found that if I'm talking a lot (normal for me!) or laughing it sometimes triggers a tight, pressure feeling in my upper chest & throat & several palps.
It doesn't happen every time but feels unpleasant & of course raises my anxiety.
Obviously I don't want to cut down on either talking or laughing lol,but just wondered if anyone else has experienced similar?
Thanks girls,
Sarah xx

Yes, I've had this happen. Its something to do with the diaghphram (I think), sporadic movements sometimes set off palpitations. And when we are tense we dont breathe properly, just shallow breathing. This leads to more anxiety. Remember to get some deep breaths in.

Sarah, I get that sensation too on occasion, and I know it's anxiety related. In fact, I honestly think, overtime we get so used to feeling anxious or tense, we aren't aware of it until we do something out of the ordinary...like laughing. That suddenly feels strange to our bodies so it responds by giving us things like palps or head spins or Lord knows what.

Sad, isn't it, that things like a good giggle can cause an increase in tension? It makes no sense, but true nonetheless...

I have had this happen several times in the past. In fact, it happened again about a week ago. I ran into an old friend, I was talking rather quickly, now slowing down a bit, and then I had a palp or two and it went back to normal. It usually occurs when I'm talking so quickly, or laughing really hard, as though I'm not taking enough time to breath correctly. I think it's our heart telling us to slow down, so that it can catch-up. As apprehensive as I am about many things, this doesn't scare me at all. I know it has to do with not taking enough deep breaths and breathing correctly.

You are absolutely fine my friend smile.gif

Hi Sloth,Tay & Karen,
thank you so much for your replies! What you've said makes sense & yes Karen-I find that I get it when I'm talking too much & need to take a breath lol!!
I've also been told that when you laugh you stimulate the vagus nerve via the parasympathetic nervous system & this too can trigger palpitations!
Thanks again ladies!!!!
