The CT scan ruled out kidney stones. He doesnt think the pain is caused by the ovarian cyst.

Then what is it??

I do not believe this is back pain, but I could be wrong. I was wrong about the kidney stones.

The pain was so bad that I could barely walk and I could not sit down. I gave up on going to the bathroom several times because the pain of sitting was so intense and getting my pants down was torture. It took me 10 min to get into the car and i'm certain the entire neighborhood could hear me screaming in pain. I hate feeling so vulnerable.

I spent most of Monday and Tuesday in a standing position.

I can now walk and I can sit down, but I still have pain. I am on pain meds that ease the pain, but does not completely alleviate it.

I have started my period and I am terrified that this is a prelude to what's to come.

I cannot imagine going through this much pain every month.

I am the sole provider in my house. My son makes a little bit of spending money.

I was unable to work for 3 days last week.

Tomorrow is Monday again and I will have to pay for the little bit of help that I will get, but I have no choice.

I plan on seeing my gyn asap. I dont think i've ever been so scared in my entire life.

I have always been healthy, hardly ever miss work.......... now, I cannot do my job in the condition I am in.

I just pray everyone hangs in there with me.

Oh TW I am truly feeling for you and I can relate to some of your pain and discomfort. I am also having pain issues with my lower back which radiates around to the front on my left side and it seems to morph around period time and ovulation time so it must be hormonal. I can feel many trigger points in my hips and butt so maybe these are attributing to my discomfort. Have you tried feeling for tender spots in these areas? It seems sciatic pain is common for us at this stage. Trigger points can refer strange unrelated pain to other areas making diagnosis difficult.

I have to go take a walk to burn off some of this anxiety I'm having again but I'll talk to you later my friend.

Hang in there.... Kia kaha

back pain.... i usually see a good chiropractor for any kind of back pain.. especially any radiating pain down my leg or anything like that.. back pain can be more pronounced at period time, as i have experienced this myself. sciatic pain can be relieved with chiropractic care.

as for tiredness, i unashamedly use guarana, ginseng, and caffeine. i take a good multo vitamin and mineral pill, with herbs. i do not have to be tired all the time.

Chiropractors are unfortunately not for me. I have tried them many times over the years and when I was younger I got some relief from the female ones but was made worse by the male ones. The female Chiro I liked the best was trained in a holistic manner and used massage first to supple up the muscles then went in for the kill laugh.gif . Sadly she moved to bigger better things in the biggest city here in NZ which is just a bit far for me to travel to. Now I am going to try a specialist massage therapist who practices myofascial release and triggerpoint release along with a new technique called Neuro-structural Integration (google that one, I had to laugh.gif ).

I have just been for a 3 km walk and boy did I feel every trigger point in my legs and butt on that journey. It is a beautiful day so I thought 'why not' but now I'm thinking why the heck did I attempt that after many months of doing nothing rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif . Lets see how I feel tomorrow that will be the teller....

I have been where you are at present. During peri I had episodes of indescribable back pain which radiated down my legs. Even with all my training and knowledge, I just couldn't fathom what was wrong. In the end I went to a spinal back specilalist who did an MRI. The spine at the coccyx was narrowed and I had several bulging discs but nothing to explain the agony I was in. All I can tell you is that at the same time that my migraines ceased so did the back pain. During the painful times I was reeling, desperately needing help but with no definite diagnosis as to what was causing the pain. blink.gif Sadly in the absence of a diagnosis health practitioners either see a way to make a quick buck or dismiss you as a hypochondriac. What a horrible place to be. I then remembered that an aunty had suffered in exactly the same way. I can remember watching her husband having to carry her to the car. She is in her 70s now and having a ball!
My periods have now stopped and I am struggling with allergy and fatigue issues but the back pain has gone.

I shudder when I think back to those times because even now no-one can explain why it all happened. I cannot assure you that all this will pass because everyone is different but my post might give you hope for the future.....

((((bev)))) sending hugs your way.

I had/have a weak back and one day it just 'went' I couldn't stand and was so frightened. The pain too. I managed to get to the phone (couldn't stand properly) and phone hubby who came home. Doc came out to the house as I was horizontal couldn't move, he recommended xrays which were fine.

Also, I used to get the back pain and chronic cramping before a period so much that I could barely stand.

I thought I'd never be normal/healthy again too. So when I read your post my heart went out to you.
Hope you get to see your GYN ASAP
Hanging in there with you

Bev,

You know my thoughts are with you and I am wishing you nothing but relief. This has been a terrible week for you, and if your pain is equivalent to passing kidney stones, it is BAD!! I am so sorry you are going through this! Nobody deserves to suffer for so long with no answers, it is inhumane. I hope you can find someone who can give you some real answers and some real help. Good luck and good wishes. Hugs.

((((((((((TW))))))))))))))))))

I'm so sorry you are suffering like this. There has to be a reason...could it be a disc problem...like a herniated disc or something? I suffer back pain too and I have a herniated disc. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Hugs,
Karen

I am SO sorry that you are having such horrible pain sad.gif I wish I could wave a magic wand and erase all this pain for you......but alas, my hubby shrunk my wand when he did the last load of laundry (mumble grumble)
In the meantime you are in my healing good vibes and loving thoughts
I hope you get some answers because I believe that pain is increased when we do not understand the 'why's of the source of the pain.

Have a transvaginal ultrasound scheduled for next week.

No idea what they are looking for, but whatever it is, I sure hope they find it.

Have had the normal hit and miss a few times on my periods.

Cramping that lasted 2 solid months.

The pain that I experienced for an entire week last week was very close to simulating hard labor pains.

Then I started my period, then I stopped, then I started, nothing unusual there, but I am STILL cramping.

Is there anyone out there who has had this type of pain for this long and if so, what do you attribute it to?

Thank you for your input.

bev

Hi Tidal,

Sorry to hear you've been in so much pain. Hope you feel better real soon.

Have you ever been told you have fibroids? I know fibroids can cause cramping, pain and pressure.
I have several large fibroids, ugh. If you have fibroids or gotten bigger then that will show up on the
ultrasound or you know already if you know you have fibroids.

I've had bad cramping the last year or two with my periods. Never used to have bad cramps like
this. I asked the gyn dr. and she said that yes periods can get harder, more cramping as we
get older. My cramps sometime start like a week to 3 or 4 days to sometimes just a day or two
before my periods starts but I've never had it like you where the cramps last and last. I have
some cramps also during my period.

Let us know how it went with the ultrasound/results, hope the dr. can help you real soon.

Take good care and (((((hugs)))))),

Noreen,

Thank you very much for your response.

No, I have never been told I have fibroids. I do have an ovarian cyst that has shown up on the 3 CT scans I have had in the past 8 months.

The dr. does not think the cyst is causing the pain.

Let me ask you this. Would you compare the pain you had to labor pain?

The pain I had last week started about 5 days before I started spotting and was so intense that I could not work.

I could not walk and I could not sit down. I went to the dr. on the 3rd day and he gave me some pain meds that helped put me out of my misery.

I need to stop worrying and just wait to see what the ultrasound reveals.

Thanks again,

bev

Bev, I have never had pain like that except when I was actually in labour. I am sorry I can't help. Keep the doctor's appts and do all the tests so they can get to the bottom of the problem. You don't wanna go thru that again!! In the mean time, take care of yourself and be well!!!

Hi Bev,

Sorry getting back here later, haven't read some of the threads in awhile. How are you doing? I hope you're feeling better now, have some relief. No the cramping pain I had wasn't as bad as labor pains. Mine was like a pressure cramping pain which is like labor pains , but I remember my labor pain was worse.

Did you get your ultrasound results back? I hope the dr. has been able to help you and you have pain relief.

Noreen,

Thank you for your response! I am feeling better, although I still have cramping and I have hardly been able to eat anything in at least 3 weeks or more. I AM doing better though.

I have since had an xray, a CT scan, a transvaginal ultrasound and a CA 125 blood test for cancer.

I got word just a bit ago that the cancer test came back normal. I am totally relieved as you can imagine!

I will see my gynocologist tomorrow and I am so hoping he can shed some light on why I have hurt so bad and felt so horrible for so long.

Hope you are well and enjoying life to the fullest!!

Glad to hear you're feeling better Bev! And so glad to hear the cancer test came out normal ,yes bet sure a total relief for you!Did the cramping go away yet?

How did the gynecologist visit go? Hope you got some answers. I know what you're going though too with drs. and answers as I'm going through a health issue myself. I'm trying to find a good gynecologist dr. , have to swtich to a new dr. now since we just got new insurance. I have to have a hysterectomy, have been having urination problems and my fibroids have gotten bigger , are pressing on my bladder, bowels area.

Take care and hope you feel more better real soon,

Noreen

Oh Noreen! I cannot even imagine having fibroids pressing on your bladder and bowels!! I have problems enough without that added stress! How do you do it? Seriously! I have to wear a pad at all times and even then it is not enough when I'm having kidney problems.

As for the cramping and nausea, it has definitely let up considerably. My appetite is back in full force, although I do still have some nausea, but I believe that is hormonal. My gyno wants me to try birth control pills to see if that helps with the cramping and the cysts, which I learned from the dr. visit is a cluster of cysts measuring 4 cm., however, he does not think that is what caused my pain. For now the pain is intermittent and managable, so I am thrilled to say the least.

He wants me back in 3 months for another ultrasound and another blood test. He will then decide if he wants to do surgery.

I sure hope you get your problem solved very quickly. I know how hard it is having debilitating symptoms for even the shortest length of time. It is definitely no fun!!

But, of course my philosophy at this time of life isNO PAIN, NO PAIN!!!!
