Hi Girls,
I just got out the bath & was drying my hair when I noticed a warm sensation around the bottom of my spine. It spread around the area & got hotter & hotter. It's lasted about 10 mins so far & feels really weird. It's just like I've got boiling hot water around my coccyx area!

It's really freaking me out because although I've had small areas of heat sensation before, on my legs maybe, I've never had it here & of course my health anxiety is kicking in & thinking there's something wrong with my spine!!
The skin isn't any warmer than normal it's just this boiling hot sensation!!

I've skipped 3 periods & been getting more hot flushes again but never had this before.
Can anyone relate?
Aaaargh-I hate all this weirdness!!

Hi Sarah,

The weirdness. Yes, I hate it too. And I have certainly had my share... cool.gif

I get a hot sensation also every time I shower. Only mine is in the--ahem--pelvic area. In fact, I do not perspire at all any more under my arms. Only in the afore-mentioned spot. Weird??

Try not to worry. Hormones are just having fun with you. Try to laugh back at them.

Very best,
Marcy

Yep, I've had something similar. I have been getting random heat sensations all over my body for alot of years. It actually started happening when I was pregnant 9 years ago. I get them most on my feet and legs. It feels like someone poured something warm on me. It actually makes me look to make sure I haven't spilled my tea.

These sensations don't last long, however my arms are a different story. For days or weeks at a time they feel like they have a sunburn. They just burn. And then when cool air flows over them (if I'm near air conditioning or out for a walk) it feels like someone has dowsed my arms with ice. It is a very uncomfortable feeling.

I used to have terrible tingling, pins and needles and numbness in my hands and arms up to the elbows and sometimes up to the shoulders and from my feet up to my knees. It was very intense for about 3 years or so. It has been getting milder as time goes on. I never get numb anymore, just have the tingling/pins and needles/heat sensations.

Hi Girls,
Thanks for replying! It only lasted about 20 minutes & I haven't had it since but it felt very strange!
I feel reassured that it's hormonal but at the time I just felt a little freaked out!
Thanks again!

I had something similar to this a while back at work, only mine was on my shoulder and back and it was cold. It felt like someone had soaked a washcloth in ice water and then draped it over my left shoulder. I could even feel the cold running down my back. I just figured it was hormones and went back to working. They say our bodies evolved from a lesser form to a better more efficient form. If that's the case, how is any of this crazy meno stuff helpful? Just giving our panic system a workout?

(((Sarah))),

I'm convinced peri plays havoc with our nerve endings. I get localised goosebumps (and I'm not cold when this happens) in little patches that come up for a few minutes, like that area is shivering by itself. Really weird! I also have had my jaw go numb up to my ear once. All checked out OK! Your hot spine feeling sounds like yet another nerve ending thing to me. Don't worry! smile.gif

Thanks Squiggle & Webalina!
I think my nerve endings are well & truly irritated!!!!
They're getting on my nerves as well, lol!!
Sorry, laughing at my own jokes now....

Hi Sarah!

hey, how are you? I will drop you a PM! YES, i get this too! and i totally agree, i hate this WEIRDNESS!
i've actually gotten, along with the heat sensation there, a feeling like my muscles down at the bottom of my spine (on either side of my spine) are sort of "tightening" (I posted that once), very very slowly, but definalty getting tighter and tightening up all around my waist! THIS REALLY SCARED ME at the time! it has happened twice so far. I guess if it happens again, i'll realize it's hormonal, but wow......this hormone stuff is really to much!
